Anyone use Messaging and Notifications successfully?
So, I've given myself (and spared you) three days to try and get this to work. Didn't happen.
I created a Custom Subscription (Node Type: Announcement) and cannot get it to send email OR queue. I can subscribe to content types, like Page, Story, etc. I have a custom content type, Announcement, that I want people to be able to subscribe to. Any ideas of why this isn't working or what I can do to troubleshoot?
Like I said, I've spent three days reading threads, tinkering, checking this and unchecking that, nada. Oh, and this framework doesn't provide much in the way of log entries :\

Please comment on how you are invoking email notifications, in general and for taxonomy subscriptions. Does anyone see a problem with workflow and drupal access model and/or 3rd party modules that supply that type of functionality?
With workflow, the natural point at which an announcement notification message should be sent is when the content changes to a certain workflow state -- e.g. "Posted". And the tools I see available for this task range from "send a tokenized email to a role" via the Token module (token_action.module) to the Subscriptions module.

Notifying users of new content, events, actions is something that is common to enterprise level applications, social network or simply a blog. Notification can happen in many forms and via many mediums, some of the prominent ones being e-mail, instant messaging, SMS or live feed. Solutions uptill now have been separate and distant to each other, even though the problem is essentially the same, that is some message needs to be relayed to one of your user. The medium and carrier would differ and so would be the urgency and priority of delivery.

Hi,
Sorry for crossposting (see http://drupal.org/node/328100) but I didn't get any replies on the d.org forum.
I'm searching for the best solution to provide 1-to-1 instant messaging functionality to logged-in users. My wishlist:
- a block with logged-in users (that's the easy part)
- when you click on a user, a chat window opens (no additional actions like login, create nickname, create chatroom etc.)
- when you send a message, it shows up on the screen of the other user
- not dependant on other accounts like msn, icq
- chats are 1-to-1; closed and invisible for others
