Welcome to VANDUG!
The Vancouver Drupal Users Group (VanDUG) is the local meeting place for Greater Vancouver people interested in Drupal. We were formerly known as the Vancouver League of Drupalers, but that's a long story.
The group mostly hangs out on Slack at https://vandug.slack.com/. We also post our meetings on Meetup.com at https://www.meetup.com/Vancouver-Drupal-Users-Group. All are welcome, it's listed as a private group to keep out the griefers.
We've been holding semi-regular virtual meetings during COVID-19.

Thoughts for an August meeting
There's been an ongoing interest expressed in a hands-on co-work style meeting and the interest was really brought home at the Irish Heather meeting last week. These kinds of meetings haven't happened In part because I haven't been sure what one looks like, and in part because no one else came forward to organize one. We have had sprints, but it seems many people are looking for something more free form. For August I propose embracing uncertainty and just scheduling something to see what happens.
Here's what I'm thinking:

Angie and Karoly in Vancouver 2009 06 11 – Drupal 7
Having permission from Angie, I recorded the substantial part of the Angie's and Karoly's unofficial presentation and discussion of Drupal 7 during the Vancouver Open Web 2009 on 2009-june-11.
I broke it into 16 parts and posted on youtube:

Contrib upgrade sprint #D7CX
Drupal 7 is going to be frozen on September 1. Past that, we will fix focus on bugfixing and porting contributed modules. The so-called D7CX movement wants to see as many contributed modules as possible be ready by the time Drupal 7.0 is released. NowPublic fully supports this movement and to further it, we will hold a contrib upgrade sprint in the NowPublic offices in Vancouver, BC (Seymour 576) on the October 17-18 weekend. As usual, we provide wifi, power, pizza, drinks, chocolate and Hungarian pancakes (Damien Tournoud asked for them). Come by, it will be awesome.

Are you looking for a way to make you or your company more visible in the Drupal community? Or a way to network with other Drupalers? Or simply a way to give back to the community that doesn't involve writing code.
I'm looking for help with the Vancouver Drupal User Group, and helping the local Drupal community could help yourself!
Don't worry, the work isn't hard, and I'm not planning on disappearing. So why this call for help? It's a combination of meeting organization not being as much fun as it was, other volunteer projects I want to take on, and burn-out. And let's face it, new blood always brings in new perspectives. I look forward to someone with a different set of contacts bringing in people I could never think of.

I am helping to plan a Drupal Event in late October here in Seattle. This event will be a bit different from Drupal camps as we have done them here in Seattle in the past. The focus will be more on folks already in the "Drupal Ecosystem", people who spend much of their time designing, configuring and engineering Drupal. We will not have a focus on the "beginner" track as we have had in the past, rather we will be having a separate event a few weeks earlier to reach out to those checking out the Drupal Ecosystem.
