Welcome to VANDUG!
The Vancouver Drupal Users Group (VanDUG) is the local meeting place for Greater Vancouver people interested in Drupal. We were formerly known as the Vancouver League of Drupalers, but that's a long story.
The group mostly hangs out on Slack at https://vandug.slack.com/. We also post our meetings on Meetup.com at https://www.meetup.com/Vancouver-Drupal-Users-Group. All are welcome, it's listed as a private group to keep out the griefers.
We've been holding semi-regular virtual meetings during COVID-19.

I'm vaguely competent in Drupal basics but I keep hitting a bit of a wall. I'm building a site that would allow people to log in, set themselves up as a provider or a consumer (so to speak), and fill in details about who they are or what they need. Then the site could suggest to the consumers what providers are in their area and might meet their needs. I'd also like to allow for commenting on providers and consumers and rating them.
I hope this isn't too vague, but that's the gist.

Ryan Dempsey will be covering image handling in Drupal. New Drupal users are often frustrated by the fact that there is no image handling included by default in Drupal core. Searching the module repository only adds to the confusion as there are so many different options to choose from with regards to image handling. We'll look at a few popular recipes to get images onto your Drupal website. This talk is geared to those that are fairly new to Drupal, though it would help to have a very basic understanding of CCK and Views.
