Just a reminder for people that our regular meetup is happening again this month at the ABC.
With DrupalCon on this month, our original scheduled presenters aren't available but we've got some better presentations in exchange.
We don't have someone on the schedule for the module highlight this month, so contact me or just post below if you can give a quick overview of a cool module you know about or have recently found.
As usual,
When: Thursday, March 17th
Time: 6:30pm - 9:30pm (Show up around 6:30pm for firm 7pm start!!)
Venue: ABC Centre 700 Harris Street, Ultimo ( Map | Directions )
Agenda:
- Greetings and Welcome new people + Announcements
- Community news - Kim Pepper
- Presentation: D7 Theming by: Geoffrey Roberts (Confirmed)
- Case Study James Gollan (Confirmed)
- Module Highlight(s): Social Bookmarking Aimee Maree
- Continued at the pub with + Drinks/food
Remember to sign up. This will also help us plan numbers/audience.
Venue Details
The ABC Centre has some security issues, so it is important that people arrive early and sign in at the security desk so that we can take everyone into the building at once. Everyone just waits and chats in the lobby, so just look around for us if you're new. If you have problems you can call either of us. Many thanks go to the ABC for providing this venue.
Parking is possible at parking meters around Thomas street and Mary-Anne street. But they take a 2 hour max i think. There are carparks behind the ABC $15 (enter from Thomas street, but on the Chinatown side). Also, you can get all-evening parking at the Citigate (I think that's the name) parking station for (updated) $10 (starting after 5pm, I think, and stays open until well after midnight). It's at the end of the Thomas street dead end (Eastern/Chinatown side), which is very close to the ABC's back entrance.
Post below if you can talk about something (anything is ok, everyone has something to share) or if you're are interested in other topics for discussion.

Up for talking :D
Hey I will be around this month, I can present on a module... ummmmm hard to pick one? I have also recently evaluated add this and share this for a client, I would be happy for share my findings. I can present a quick pros and cons of both of them, level of community support and uptake, drupal framework integration with the two services (i.e third party service call integration). Can also show a configuration demo and some custom code for icon styling? I could show that with demos pretty easily and quickly, could be good as everyone these days wants social bookmark integration?
Anyways let me know, I will be around and wont take much to prepare :D
Possible
That could be good. Just keep in mind that the module highlight is only meant to be a ~5 min talk and is meant to not require to have slides.

5minute module chat
Hi,
I will also have an admin configuration for the module to show, 5min is fine as its a basic module and i will try (promise) to keep it short lol ;) look forward to hearing about Drupal Con Chicago.
Reminder?
Hi, being a newbie I have not been to one of these yet, but was curious about the timing of these. Are these meetings always at the same time in a month, or are they ad-hoc? The use of the word "reminder" suggests people should already have been aware that it was on. Living just outside of Sydney it helps to get as much notice as possible. Either way, planning to be there at this stage..
Welcome. The meetups are on
Welcome. The meetups are on the third Thursday of every month. That should give you some planning time for next month :)
Business models
After the planning meeting last month it was my understanding that I'd be doing a talk on business models. I'm still up for it if there is room.

My Bad
Sorry Murray, I must've misread my notes and thought you were on next month. Since Geoffrey and James are already geared up for this month, are you able to do next month?
James will be managing the room and heading the discussions this month, so I am happy for him to make the call as well.
I have amended the agenda for this month based on current feedback.

I'm interested in doing my talk on Drupal base themes and subthemes, and how D7 handles that will constitute a big part of it. This ok?
Web site moditoring
There are some services that monitor Web sites and some use Drupal add-on modules to get more detail. Can mention and explain some.

Hola
I'm a relatively new Sydneysider. I've been working at a San Francisco based nonprofit for the past five years, where we built a global technology donation platform on Drupal which is now running in 35 countries (Australian version is at http://www.donortec.org/). (Dries came to visit us once and said "good idea") Now I'm doing some consulting for a couple of orgs and settling in with my family. On the side, I've been playing with Drupal V7 (http://www.yeaton.net), and am particularly interested in the various integration modules such as Drupal for Facebook and Flickr.

Clarification
The three kind work offers that appeared in my inbox shortly after posting my message made me realize two things: 1) there's a shortage of Drupal talent here (duh); and 2) I didn't explain my own role very in TechSoup's global program very well. I was head of the combined business/tech team that scoped and built the global platform, but was not a developer on it and haven't done much coding since making the fateful (fatal?) leap into management. However, I'm enjoying working hands on with Drupal now, and look forward to meeting and learning more about this community.

D7 Workflow with Workbench
I'm happy to do a quick module review of workbench, the Palantir module for workflow in D7.
Also, I can do an overview of the hot topics that were discussed in DrupalCon Chicago.

Record the meetup
Ryan will you be recording tonight?
I cant make it as my son's soccer training now co-insides.
Not this time
I wasn't able to be at this meetup, so I wasn't able to record it. However, the slides are posted and I will be recording all the future presentations. I've also got some of the Feb meetup recorded as well which I will get posted next week.
