Hey,
Very sorry for being absent in discussions for a little while, have been very snowed under with a number of commitments! In regards to the April meet-up I'd got approval from their functions manager for the area every 2nd tuesday of the month for us to utilise from 7-9pm, but post-that he was unresponsive for a few weeks before I got locked down in other responsibilities.
I actually had a missed call from him earlier this week, but assuming Tony has contacted him since the location is noted as being there so looks like all is aligned. If you haven't had confirmation from Sam (Events manager) let me know and I'll start the harassment again :)
Look forward to seeing everyone Tuesday and thank you Tony for getting the ball rolling.

I haven't been in contact with anyone, so if you can chase them up that would be great. It usually not a big issue if we get that room or not, theres others we can get.
To do presentations it would be nice to find a location with a projector. Maybe we should discuss options again at this meetup.

Confirmation of room booking at Irish Murphy's???

Just wondering how you went with booking the room? I think it is a significant issue - and has been a problem in the past - mainly due to getting kicked out at 8pm!
I also agree with Tony that having access to that room's projector will be a major advantage. If Sam okays the room what needs to be done to access the projector. Apart from bringing a VGA cable do they keep a remote at the bar? and is the power switch easily accessible? I'm presuming the screen is just pull-down?
I think this venue works well if these arrangements are locked-in. If not it is very hit and miss - and in the past the 8pm curfew has given us more misses than hits. So thanks Daniel for putting the ducks in a row on this!
I've been unsuccessful
I've been unsuccessful getting through to Sam Arnold the Events guy I'd dealt with previously the last couple of days. I'll try the direct line to Irish murphys to see what I can do about getting the correct room and till 9 going.
April went well with the correct room and 7-9pm fitting well, unfortunately it's been nearly impossible to get anything out of Sam since then!
I'll report back here shortly with results of the call.
Quick sidenote: I've been put on a commerce board recently which utilises a number of brisbane venues for events: Keeping an eye out for any appropriate for us which we can lock in easier; Sam seems to manage multiple venues around Australia & assuming unpaid bookings are low on his priority list.
