User group meeting
We have many things to discuss. I thought it time to have a Social to celebrate a really great year! I have really enjoyed everyone's participation.
Let's meet at Brewers and have a less formal meeting to network and discuss what we would like to do in the next year.

Ames, IA 50010
This is an important meeting!!! We need everyone who is not still FULL of Turkey.

Comments
Sorry Folks
Can't make this meeting as I have to help with some presentations to the local city councils that night. Not sure what I might be able to help with in regard to a regional meeting but I will certainly try to be available when that comes around. Got anything in mind just ask.

Big THANK YOU
Not trying to hijack this thread but since I can't be in Ames tonight I wanted to extend BIG THANK YOU to John and Dan. To John for his writing about Batch API in "Pro Drupal Development" and to Dan for his iMed labs node about the same. WIth the help of those two resources I was finally able to get a handle on batch processing and last night I imported about 15,000 nodes into one of my sites.

Excited!!!
Never hit me until tonight to look for fellow Drupalers in Iowa. I'm excited that there is an active group!
I actually have foster parenting class from 6-9pm tomorrow in Ames, but I'll try to cut out and drop in on the start of the meeting.
I'm looking to bring on a couple part-time Drupalers as well so this might be a good chance at networking.
Is is okay to show up for this part-planning meeting? Wouldn't want to crash the party or anything!

Of course
Of course you are welcome to come by, even if it's only for part of the time. We are small but mighty. (Very small this week, by the looks of the signup form.) Look forward to meeting you.
Anybody else coming?
I'm planning to be there but
I'm planning to be there but probably not until 7:30

I could use some hands-on help!
Hi all,
I'm the basic Drupal user in the group--as compared with you Drupal developers who really know your way around--and I could use some help. I've been volunteering my time and working with a consultant to get my church's website (http://uufames.org) up and rolling. I have a million questions (well, okay, it just feels like a million but it could be only 3 or 4) that I could use some in-the-same-room help with (Ben lives in Emporia, KS, and we've been skyping and exchanging emails).
What's in it for you? Well, I have the feeling that my problems are representative of issues end-users have with Drupal sites, such as, for starters, using views; various aspects of the og modules, including message/notifications settings; and user password settings, so you might benefit from seeing how a not-quite-novice user experiences various aspects of Drupal.
I guess I could also use some "welcome to the webmaster world where you get nibbled to death by ducks" support and assurance that my life WILL get better.

I wouldn't say your request is out of line. What else is a users group for, if not a place to ask questions?
As I understand it, however, we're meeting at a different location tonight. I kinda doubt there is a projector or even WiFi, so I'm not sure how hands-on we can get. But I'd be willing to talk through your issues at the very least.
Go Scott!!
Scott,
Your a real asset to this group. Keep it coming.

Partial Payment for Ubercart Products
I couldn't remember specifically where the question about partial payments came from so I am posting here hopefully it gets to the person in need. On my drive home I came up with two fairly simple solutions to the problem.
The first solution would be to use product attributes to define the partial payment and full amounts. You could give the product a "list price" equal to the full amount a "sell price" of the "partial payment" amount and a product attribute that adds the difference to make the payment whole.
The second solution I came up with would be to create two products one for the down payment and another for the full payment. Then using Views display a product page view to the user with two add to cart buttons one for partial payment and another for the full payment.

Just had another idea. You could use the Ubercart Discount Coupons module and provide a coupon code to defer the balance due.

Here are some of the things I mentioned last night.
Wow, maybe I shouldn't talk so much!
