Seek.com.au Sucks

Laurel Papworth's picture

you can't post seek links. They lock it up so you can only direct ppl through their internal mail system. Web 2.0 and syndication has totally passed them by... or at least, when I click on links like that one, I get an expired error and no way of knowing what the job was about so can't search. If your mileage varies and it IS possible to view Seek links direct, please let me know?

Oh thanks. I wouldn't have

Oh thanks. I wouldn't have known about this because I can see the link. Maybe they use cookies in some way.

I know a marketing manager there, I'm going to hassle him and find out for sure.

it seems to work by taking

it seems to work by taking out the other junk thats in the URL and just leaving the JobID
Try:
http://it.seek.com.au/users/apply/index.ascx?JobID=9002565

Why aren't there jobs like that in Brisbane... :(

Hey thanks for that.

Hey thanks for that.

Yeah, it actually seems like most of these jobs are in Melbourne. Sydney must be too "entaprizy" for Drupal.

Brisbane isn't so bad, at least there is clear precedent with the gov getting in on it.

Seek.com.au only sucks a bit

Actually, the way seek.com.au uses cookies doesn't work with my Firefox. Switch to MSIE and I was able to load the URL. I still won't switch to IE though. :p

I posted this job to my blog. Incidentally, I've had quite a few Web 2.0 jobs come through from Brisbane lately. There, and Christchurch NZ. Which is kinda odd. If you find it useful, keep an eye on my Job category. But yes, mainly its Sydney and Melbourne. Social Classifieds rulez. heh.

Good luck!

Looks like a bit of a waste

Looks like a bit of a waste of time, really they aren't paying enough.

But then again, for someone who is just starting to get into Drupal it could be ideal to learn the system.

No permalinks

It's best when sharing Seek postings to just give out the job id (or whatever their unique ID is) or paste in the exact wording of the title of the ad. That way you can search for it using their system. It's a pain for sure.
