Happy New Year! As several of you have pointed out, we've got our first meetup for 2010 this week. I have confirmed our regular ABC venue for meetings. Geoff has a new module to demo and we will be discussing plans for the rest of the year as well.
When: Thursday, Jan 21st
Time: 6:30 - 9:00 (Show up around 6:30pm for firm 7pm start!!)
Venue: ABC Centre 700 Harris Street, Ultimo ( Map | Directions )
We will probably move to the pub afterwards. There is food at the pub, so feel free to have dinner there. Also, please bring your laptops so we can do answer some support questions and look at recent projects.

Venue Confirmed - ABC
Sorry for the late notice, but I have confirmed the venue with the ABC so we'll have our meeting there as usual. I'm sure we'll end up at the pub afterwards and might end a bit early if that's what people want to do.
I'll try to swing by the pub around 6 and hang out for any others that miss this change of info. I'll email the people who have RSVP'd now (more incentive to sign up, you get updates!)

noob question
This is my first time coming to a meeting like this, probably even my first post on drupal.org. The ABC building is pretty big - is there a particular room or floor to head to, or will they just know at reception?
I am looking forward to meeting you all and learning from real drupal experts. See you tonight.
Meet in the lobby
Hi Rocketfuel,
The ABC building has very tight security. So we meet in the lobby and go up to the room we meet in as a group. This is why you need to be there by about 6.45pm. If you are late someone has to come down to get you.

Module Building
For all those who may not want to wait until November to start building modules here are a few resources.
Drupal's API reference - find out what the hook do and how they do it.

Work through the example modules.
I started with a module that creates a page that says "Hello World" and then added to it.
Pro Drupal Development - Second Edition - By Vandyk (Pub: Apress)
This book is the best for writing a module. It takes you through all the systems with lots of code examples. I buy each new edition as soon as it comes out.
There are lots of tutorials on Drupal.org and Google and you can always post questions on Drupal.org or on thr drupal-support IRC channel or pester us at the Drupal Group.

Menu Weight Assist launch
My new module which we discussed has been published at http://drupal.org/project/mwa.
I have added a "show children" button and made a few changes as suggested.
