Unofficial Nirvana release INSIDE

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

I've packaged and uploaded the three themes we discussed at recent meetings (Nirvana, Nirvana Skeleton, and Barebones): files.fourkitchens.com/drupal.

IMPORTANT: These are unofficial, marginally untested, alpha releases! Official versions of the themes will be uploaded to Drupal's CVS when we're completely happy with them. Your mileage may vary!

Thanks for making this available. I'm looking forward to giving this theme a try.

Thanks for Nirvana!

I re-themed my home page starting with Nirvana. I have a long ways to go to do everything I want and make it work, but I have a start, making a "light on dark" version on my home page, fishparts.com

when will it be released?

Todd, you should be back from your honeymoon by now, right? (there is distant synaptic activity suggesting that your wedding is/was coming up very soon?)

Just wondering if you still had plans to release Nirvana on d.o themes. I'm about to give it a whirl on a new site I'm working on. Looking forward to sharing with the group the fruits...

Waiting for Drupal 6

Todd Nienkerk's picture

Due to overwhelming client work, I haven't had any time to fully prepare the themes for public release. At this point, I'm tempted to wait for Drupal 6 and release a version for both 5 and 6. I may post a link to the latest versions momentarily.

(BTW, the wedding's in January.)

I should note that the Holy Grail layout technique, which is employed in a portion of Barebones, breaks in a strange way when combined with the equal-height column approach: internal anchor links (node/page_title#anchor_tag) cause the content of the page to shift upward and position the anchor at the top, effectively hiding all content above the anchor. See Position Is Everything for more info ("Linking to anchors in elements within the containing block").

If you're using Barebones, I suggest removing the equal-height columns code (lines 59-92 of style_layout.css).

I've uploaded newer versions of the Nirvana and Barebones themes to files.fourkitchens.com/drupal (same link as the original post).

Again, these are unofficial releases offered with no warranties or guarantees. Your mileage may vary!

Nirvana and Nirvana Fluid have been officially released on Drupal.org. Enjoy!

(Please note that these are Drupal 5.x releases. 6.x releases are in the works, but will require some major overhauls.)
