There is now a thriving Drupal community in Bristol.
Freelancers and developers from the many Drupal shops are regularly meeting up and sharing Drupal knowledge and experiences.
We're now meeting once a month, on the third Wednesday of the month.

If you haven't come along to one of the meetups yet, or haven't come along in a while please do - the more the merrier.

I can't believe it's not summer! (October meetup)
It's that time of month again (!!) - and I can't believe how quickly these come around..
So we'll hold another Drupal meetup, get some food in and maybe learn something about something Drupal related. Last time was pretty sparse, but that allowed us to go through git in great detail with shonk. This time I think I'd welcome someone else showing something off, maybe? Or a quick tour of Drupal Commerce, and how it works?
You guys decide!

Hello everyone, nice to meet you all!
I'm helping out a new startup who want to build a web app, and we'll need a couple of custom modules to provide some of the functionality.
The first one involves lots of lovely SQL queries and data stuff (with a nod to scaleability), and the second involves facebook integration.
If you have experience with either (or both!) of these, or would like a bit more info then get in touch - harry@creation-marketing.co.uk
Thanks,
Harry

A comprehensive hands on training course covering the configuration, administration, and every-day use of key Drupal module CiviCRM. This event is aimed at administrators and technical users at organisations that are either using CiviCRM, or interested in evaluating it. It is also useful for staff at organisations that develop or implement CiviCRM who need a complete understanding of "out of the box" features and configuration options.
We try to be flexible with the agenda to meet participant requirements and expectations, and the final agenda may change. Topics will include:

Hi all,
so we've completely forgotten to advertise a meetup, and there's one happening in Bristol on Wednesday night also, but for those in or near Cardiff, we're still having a meetup, assuming anyone turns up!
I think we're either going to look at Drupal Commerce or git - depending on which way we get swayed by the populace. Usual place - chez SubHub. Reply if you need directions ;-)

We haven't had a Bristol meetup for a while...
Would be good to have a post-drupalcon catchup, while it's fresh in people's minds.
Maybe next week, or the week after?

Whoops! That crept up on us!
Let's have another meetup, at SubHub HQ, with food again.
I'm proposing a session on using Git as a VCS for maintaining production sites, managing a testing workflow, and for module development. I haven't done a lot of contrib module development, so I might be guessing about that bit.
Also, Chris Cohen of Tigerfish Interactive will be our guest speaker, giving tips on obedience training for dogs. ;-)

How did that sneak up? I bet you're all away on Holidays anyway.
So yes - a July meetup, in Cardiff Bay, with the folks from SubHub, and whomsoever else would like to join in. As usual, we'll lay on some pizza (or maybe something else?) you bring yourselves along. We can while away the hours talking about Drupal and what we'd all like to achieve with it, we could do a problem workshop, we could pick a topic to explore. Whatever takes your fancy, really :-)
Here's the location:

Reposting my comment from http://groups.drupal.org/node/141239 to get a discussion going...
A big thanks to all for coming along on the 19th April - was good to see some familiar faces and meet some new people in the local Drupal community. Hopefully we can get 30 people together regularly.
Some of the key things people felt they could get out of (or would like for) regular sessions were:
- Group problem solving/open forum QA
- Learning Drupal 7
- Performance/optimisation advice
- Freelancer networking/collaboration opportunities
- Socialising
- A mixture of social/formal
