This description is historical. It will be changed.
The Galiano Digital Media Potlatch will go down the weekend of JUNE 8TH, 2007.
* Drupal Hacking
* Blogging
* Photography, Video, Audio, Fusion-Work and everything multimedia
* Go Play Outside Sessions
The general flow of the days will be ...
a) an early geek-out session
b) an afternoon "Go Play Outside" session (kayaking, hiking, sailing, canoeing, frisbee, etc. etc.)
c) an evening follow up geek-out session
We've got the use of the Galiano Golf Course upstairs office in exchange for giving them a new Drupal Site, the extent of which will be decided by us. Personally I'm hoping for something a little stronger than an out of the box install. To Be Discussed. Perhaps a Golf Course install profile is in order?
Wrap Up. Notes for Next Year.
Hey Folks,
Here's the wrap up blog.
Notes for next year...
- Force attendees to make return ferry reservations 2 weeks in advance, lest the return ferry get booked up
- Phone the keynote speaker the evening before whether their talk has been canceled or not. ;-)
- Use the Golf Course Again
- Going with the Flow(tm) works. :-)
cheers all
Nally

My hosted gmail service for all my email accounts is down and has been for several hours.
I will be at the Ferry Terminal tonight for the 9:10pm arrival. Phone me and leave a message at 250-539-5375 if you need to be in touch.

Hey There Potlatchers,
I guess I should've warned about this possibility, but we'll need to make do ... the only Sunday evening ferry returning to Vancouver is booked and they're not taking any more car reservations. Did anyone make one?
Options...
1) park in Tsawwassen or Delta and go for a walk on reducing the number of cars on this side.
(Note... walk-ons have been turned away even showing up 1/2 hour early for the boat).
2) book a car trip over on a boat on the friday, burn all the fossil fuels you like, take a ferry to Swartz Bay and then back to Vancouver.

For those arriving on Galiano Friday night (which will really be the best option since the ferry is relatively late in the evening (i.e. compatible with work schedules)) we'll meet at the golf course.
In all likelihood I'll be at the ferry terminal offering car spots to anyone unable to catch a ride in a car pool, so I would likely be returning to the golf course with everyone else.
Oh... and while I have y'all on the line... the wiki has some fleshed out notes on its agenda section. Feel free to tweak it with your own interests.
cheers

Hey There Galiano Digital Media Potlatch Enthusiasts,
I'm happy to report that my satellite internet connection has been moved from my house to the golf course. So now all that remains is to clean up our designated meeting room (bigger task than it sounds, trust me).
So... with this technical hurdle crossed, I'm confident that the event can be pulled off to be something as good as the original vision for the event!
For the next step I hope that people will flesh out the wiki with their desires for the agenda.

A quick note... Jasmin Gardens is across the street from my house, although I've never met the owners. (Gotta go introduce myself some time).
As for Dale's request for which ones have Wifi, assume that none do and you won't be far off. My house currently has Wifi :-) but that internet connection (a satellite connection) is being moved to the golf course for the event. :-)

Ok, stupid question alert! Is it possible to enable comments on a wiki? I just added some stuff to it, but then realized that we probably don't get notified of wiki changes (if we do, forgive me for the multiple edits!), which got me to thinking that it would be great if we had something to post comments to so that people are notified of new wiki edits, news, etc. So yeah, if anyone knows how to do that, please do that and delete this story...and if not, then feel free to comment onto this or start a new one and delete this.
Ok, thanks!
