Welcome to the Groups site for the Nebraska Developers and Users Group, where we discuss, share and find ways to provide local face-to-face interaction which can support activities like hosting speakers, providing tutorials, Question and Answer sessions, establishing relationships with others in the geographic area, and generally expand the community of Drupal users.
As of 2024, our meetings are held bi-monthly in Omaha.
Other ways to connect:
• Slack: The #nebraska channel on drupal.slack.com
• Meetup: Omaha Drupal Meetup
• Twitter: DrupalNebraska
Even if you're from the surrounding areas, we won't hold it against you. You're welcome to join us in person at the meetups or chat in the #nebraska channel on drupal.slack.com. (I'm looking at you Denver/Colorado, Iowa, South Dakota, and Kansas City!)
If you want to get on our radar or get more involved, please share your contact information with us, and fill out our member strengths inventory to help us tailor the group to your needs.
Nebraska Drupal meetup at Rail & Commerce Building
Do you use Drupal and want to talk to others who also use Drupal? Do you have an idea for a website and you've heard about Drupal and want to learn more? Do you want to convince Drupal people that Wordpress is where the action is? Or are you an AI enthusiast who thinks all of the web will be one big chat window in the future? (Ok, maybe not the last one. Or maybe. Who can say?)
Whatever your background, if you have any interest in or knowledge about Drupal and want to talk to others with the same, you're welcome.

Let's meet at Dry Spokes in Omaha.
1901 Leavenworth Street
Omaha, NE 68102

https://www.dryspokes.com
As the name suggests, it is a mock-tail bar, so they don't serve any drinks with alcohol. I have confirmed with the owners that other groups like ours (book clubs and planning committees) have successfully met there. I have also confirmed that they don't have any events that night.
Please come and bring your Drupal stories, discoveries, questions or lore to the group.

What
Nebraska Drupalers are getting together again on our (current) bi-monthly schedule to discuss all things Drupal (and Drupal-adjacent).
Some of us will be coming back from Drupalcon in Portland. Others have been to other Drupal camps (like Midcamp and Florida Drupal camp). Some of us will probably be hot off of a migration to Drupal 10. Whatever your experience, whatever your background or role in Drupal, whatever your level of interest, we'll be meeting to talk all things Drupal.

Nebraska Drupal Meetup (Q2) - Symfony Framework
You've probably heard that Drupal 8 and 9 are built on top of the Symfony framework for PHP. But what does that framework look like without the many layers of Drupal on top of it? We'll take a conceptual look at what some of the Symfony components can do in the context of a simple Web app, and take a quick peek at the code that makes them go.
The 2020 Q2 meet up will be conducted over Zoom due to COVID-19 and social distancing concerns.

Hi,
With Memorial Day now passed and June nearly here, we need to schedule our next Omaha Drupal Meetup. Are there any topic ideas?

Omaha Drupal Meetup (Q1) - Drupal 8 Media: Current Developments
We will be using an online-only Zoom meeting at https://creighton.zoom.us/j/928651896 due to COVID-19 and social distancing concerns.
Over the past two years, the media landscape in Drupal 8 has seen a significant evolution. Much of the contrib code that was previously needed to support media management and usage has been replaced by Drupal core functionality. In many ways, this process has been a bit like keeping up with a moving train.
Chris Burge, Web Applications Developer at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, will present on the following areas:

Topic for Omaha Drupal Meetup (Q1 2020)
Does anyone have a topic on which they'd like to present?
When we have a posted topic, we tend to get a better turnout, so I'd like to get something figured out here if we can.
I know that Creighton's been looking at how to make the content from Paragraphs reusable and could show how we're using Paragraphs and how we plan on making the content reusable across a site.
Any other ideas?

Let's meet.
Does anyone have anything they want to share?
Perhaps we can do a lightning round where people come to show what they've been working on or have learned about.
I have it for Do Space right now during the day, as that seemed to work for more people. We can go back to night at some point.
We'll also have food again, of course.
