Welcome to the Groups site for the Nebraska Developers and Users Group, where we discuss, share and find ways to provide local face-to-face interaction which can support activities like hosting speakers, providing tutorials, Question and Answer sessions, establishing relationships with others in the geographic area, and generally expand the community of Drupal users.
As of 2024, our meetings are held bi-monthly in Omaha.
Other ways to connect:
• Slack: The #nebraska channel on drupal.slack.com
• Meetup: Omaha Drupal Meetup
• Twitter: DrupalNebraska
Even if you're from the surrounding areas, we won't hold it against you. You're welcome to join us in person at the meetups or chat in the #nebraska channel on drupal.slack.com. (I'm looking at you Denver/Colorado, Iowa, South Dakota, and Kansas City!)
If you want to get on our radar or get more involved, please share your contact information with us, and fill out our member strengths inventory to help us tailor the group to your needs.
Omaha Drupal Lunchtime Meetup (Q3 2019) - Layout Builder
Layout Builder is in core in Drupal 8, but that doesn't mean everyone is using it. Perhaps it's because they haven't heard the good news of Layout Builder as Dave Reid can tell it. It's a good thing for us, then, that Dave will be giving us an overview of Layout Builder.
Come with your questions and an appetite for learning (and an appetite for food, as we'll also be providing lunch).

Hi,
I'm looking at Sept 18 do do a lunchtime Drupal meetup.
Food/drink:
1. Creighton folks could bring food.
2. Other people could bring food.
We could combine options 1 & 2 to bring more/better/varied food.
Place:
1. We could do it at Creighton
2. We could do it at DoSpace
// We can't combine these options, though.
What do you think?
Yours,
Christian
Omaha Drupal Meetup (Q2 2019) - Decoupled Drupal with React
What does headless mean to you? One hopes it's different than what it meant to Ichabod Crane. We'll look at various levels of headless all the way up to enterprise-ready decoupled Drupal. Rick Sweenie, Senior Software Developer at Creighton University, will lead the discussion.
Pizza, pop and cookies will be served. Come hungry (for knowledge, community and pizza).
For those who subsist on pure thought or can't make the trip, we will also be on Zoom: https://creighton.zoom.us/j/215208494

March 2019 Meetup Recap and going forward
We had a great meetup yesterday with Ben Stallings presenting on Migrating to D8.
To see a recording of the presentation (obviously not exactly the same), go to http://2018.drupalcorn.org/session/migrating-various-drupal-8-entities/i...
An attendee asked if we can have them more often. Currently, we are doing them quarterly, but I'm for bi-monthly or even monthly if we can swing it. Here's the key: we need people who will help plan and sponsors to pay for food.

The Migrate API in Drupal 8 is a huge step forward for ease of use... it's just not very well documented yet. We'll take a quick tour through what comes with Drupal core, what functionality contrib modules add, and how to create your own custom migrations to import most anything to most anywhere in your Drupal 8 site, including nodes, media entities, Commerce products, and Paragraphs.
Pizza and soda will be served.
Come for the code (and food); stay for the community.

Last night, we had a great discussion with Adam G-H (@phenaproxima) from Acquia about Lightning. But what about next time?
We'd like to start getting together quarterly for now, so the next event is slated for Feb 19 or 20 (either the Tuesday or Wednesday).

At the upcoming Omaha Drupal Meetup, @phenaproxima will be joining us to talk about the Acquia Lightning Drupal 8 distribution.
So that any would-be interested party has some input, I wanted to see if anyone had any questions they would like to have addressed.
What would you like to know about Lightning?

The Lightning distribution of Drupal 8 is Acquia's prescription to what is ailing most people or organizations who want a content-focused Drupal package. It comes with features that many editors want, such as Layout, Media, Workflow and Preview, while still being light-weight (you know, for Drupal).
For about a year, Creighton University has been building its Drupal 8 platform on top of Lightning, so its developers have experience with customizing the distro to fit a complex client's needs.
