First aid or CPR training at Drupalcon?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

In addition to living a healthy lifestyle, another way to promote a healthy community is for people to receive first aid and CPR training.

Training classes for this could be easily arranged for the DrupalCons in North America if there was enough interest. Generally, these courses are not free, however, and they take the better part of a day. On-site courses are offered by the Red Cross and sometimes by local fire departments.

Who would be interested in that? Would you be willing to spend an evening during the conference doing it or stay an extra day?

If this took place during one

If this took place during one of the days before or after DrupalCon and included a CPR certification, I'd be interested in helping put this together. When I went through EMT training a number of years ago, I was shocked that what I was learning wasn't common knowledge and taught every year in public school.

In any case, something like a half day is a large time investment. I think it's worthwhile, though, especially since our DrupalCons have thousands of people where the event always spills out beyond the walls of the conference site (where we have trained medical personnel). CPR certification and knowledge of first aid is something I wish more people had.

It may be a considerable expenditure of resources to put this together, but it would be considerably worse if there were an emergency and nobody knew what to do.

Let's talk about this at the Drupal Fit BoF I just suggested on the chicago2011.drupal.org site:
