Hi all,
Quick question for Drupal developers out there. I pretty much know the answer to this question, but I'd like to hear others opinion as well.
As a Drupal / PHP developer, if given the choice by your employer, what would you choose?
1- Mac Laptop
2- Mac Desktop
3- Windows Laptop
4- Windows Desktop
This is not a "which is better" contest, is more or less to get a feel from a developer's standpoint, what would the person be more comfortable with while doing programming.
Thanks in advance guys.

What is your favorite color?
This is like asking for your favorite color. You may be better off creating a poll to find out what people are using/like.

Good point! Thanks Hector.
Good point! Thanks Hector.
Don't let him fool you -
Jose has a prefence - he even has a sticker on his car :)
My favorite color is blue
and I like crack. I further Hector's comment that this is like telling a drug addict to recommend their favorite drug.
I am a Mac user and will never go back, bu I have plenty of developers that love their PC. I will say though that they have many years on those machines and are married to the software that they have the most proficiency on.
Just the fact that you are asking tells me that you have yet to form an opinion...and in that case GO MAC! yes...ALL CAPS!
Blue it is...
The reason I'm asking is that I will be hiring a few developers and designers early next year, but I want to buy equipment now so it doesn't go into next year's budget... (We usually order equipment after we hire... so our employees have choices).
Having said that, I'd like to have plenty of options for these positions to choose from. I've been using mac for several years and I already have a suite of products I'm used to and enjoy using. I also know several colleagues that prefer windows systems and absolutely agree with Steve's comment.
I just wanted to get a quick thought about what preferences others have in terms of what makes them more comfortable to work with. Perhaps I should have used a poll instead of just asking the question so it doesn't open up into other subjects. Thanks hector.

When I was working at
When I was working at Bonnier, I was not allowed to bring my mac to work - I was given a Windows desktop. It was fine for email, text editing, running a local server, and testing things in IE with the Multiple IE program.
Now that Macs are Intel Machines, why not just buy several Windows licenses and give everyone a dual-boot machine?
I like my Unix command line. You can't tear me away from it. At the same time, all of our servers were Linux, so if I needed to run awk or grep, I would just ssh into the server and run my script up there.
It used to be that you couldn't do git version control on Windows (in a brain-dead way) - has that changed?
If all they're doing is writing software (no photoshop), why not give them Ubuntu? Now that I've dropped that bomb, I'll run quickly in the other direction.... !

Yeah yeah whatever
Ubuntu is totally where it's at.
Now there is an idea!!!
Well, I'm leaning on stocking up on a few Mac 17 laptops. A few copies of parallels etc... Now Ubuntu... You know, not a bad idea either... Thanks Ryan!
Do I leave the office and do
Do I leave the office and do my work anywhere else or do I come in to work and then go home.
I personally prefer my Mac Pro, but obviously if I had to travel I'd like a laptop.
