Anyone up for a D7 release party? I'll bring the cake if someone can provide a venue.
It's the first Friday of the New Year. Let's get things rolling again in this group, eh?

Awesome! I would love to see
Awesome! I would love to see this happen, I'll even be in town for it. I can regale you with stories of Ireland and Linked Data ;)
Drupal 7 Release Party, Pittsburgh, PA January 7, 2011
I'm up for a release party, and could provide space (auxiliary office space of about 500 square feet in Carnegie that we use for special occasions).
Just let me know!

Great to see this happen!
Suggestions on how to do this:

And announce it here when it is set up:

Wild Pockets on the South Side invited us to come use their space for meetups. Contact spyderboy.
Love it!
I'll be there. I can bring projector and screen if needed . . .
Can't make it
Unfortunately, I'll be out of town for the release date. I'm with Fen, though, let's get some energy back into this group.
I've moved to a new company, but I may still be able to get space up at Pitt Law. Also, we can likely host future meetings down here as well (north shore). Anyone want to start discussion of a Jan or Feb meeting?
Drupal Release Party
Let's get the release party set up by the end of today. Since VinceL has offered a space, let's go with that.
What time?
What activities do you want to do?
This could be the January meetup.
How about having a regularly scheduled meetup like the first Wednesday of the month.
I won't be able to make it this Friday and I am out-of-town a lot.

Sounds great!
VinceL - if your space is still available, can you confirm and post directions?
I'd love to get back on track to having a regular monthly meetup, and the first Wednesday of the month works for me. What do others think?
But this month, it's gonna be the first Friday to coincide with the D7 Release - tho I'm sorry that David won't be able to make it.
It would be interesting to hear what others have to say about D7 - are you using it? What do you have planned?
I need to get my CivicActions module D7 ready, but I did not make the commitment to be ready by D7 release. But I will see what I can do. Though this module is mostly useful for our internal development environment, it has some generally useful features that I can describe.

Anyone got a venue?
Vince hasn't answered (yet) but I'd like to see something happen. If we can't get a venue, any suggestions for a good bar or coffee shop where we could meet - preferably one with a big table? CivicActions will buy the first round. (If Vince or someone else comes through with a venue, CivicActions will provide some drinks for that, too.)
I just need a place and time (say, 7pm) and I'll be there. (I'm in the South Hills and cannot find convenient venues easily...)

Drupal 7 Release Party, Pittsburgh, PA January 7, 2011
I'd like to get a head count for possible Drupal 7 Release Party in Pittsburgh. My space could handle about 20 people comfortably.
I'm in the Carnegie Office Park, Building 6, at the top of the hill opposite the Rosslyn Farms exit from the Parkway West, just eight minutes from downtown Pittsburgh.
I have another event that I'd like to attend at 7:30 pm if possible (high school boys basketball game in Sewickley).
Anyone up for a fashionably late Release Party (i.e., starting at 9:30 pm or so)?
Just let me know!
Best,
Vince Lackner
I can make 9:30pm
VinceL - thanks! Is it OK if I bring some beer to the venue? (9:30pm sounds a bit more like beer-o-clock ;) I'll also bring something non-alcoholic...
I expect the turnout to be 5-15 people - no more than 20. (Past DrupalPGH meetings have never had more than 20 IIRC.) If we do get more than 20, that would be a great start to the new year, even if a bit crowded!
Everyone else on the list - please respond if 9:30pm on Friday works for you.
BTW: D7 final is now available for your downloading pleasure ;)

event
I just created an event for this to ease signups at http://groups.drupal.org/node/116794
Hope to see you all there!

This might be something to show. It is the Lullabots' overview of D7. About 1 hr long.

Signup
I just signed up even though I'm not 100% sure I can be there. 9:30 on a Friday isn't suiting my wife too well. Hope to see you then!
PS- My office is in the Riverside Center for Innovation on River Avenue on Northshore. I have access to the shared conference rooms anytime we want to have a meeting. It can hold probably 30-40 people and has a projector and computer lab next to it. They don't frown on alcohol, either. Perhaps I can sponsor the next meeting? I didn't hear about this until just now or I could have done this event.

Hi @brucelet
Great to hear from you, and we'll def take you up on the next meetup - maybe 7:30pm on the 1st Wednesday of February? (As host, you set the time - I think Wednesday works for David; Tuesday and Thursday are better for me, but I can make Wednesday, too).
Hope you can make this one so we can meet (if we haven't already).
This is just the beginning of the year and I was on vacation for the last couple weeks so I let stuff drop -- we can spend a bit more time planning the next one.
Also, I'd like to encourage all with access to school tech forums to post the event once we know the particulars.
