Please use this thread as a place to find out who else may be able to share transport with you.

If you have transport and would be able to provide a seat to someone else, please add a comment below describing where you will be travelling from and at what times, and how many seats you have available.

If you are looking for transport, please add a comment describing where you will be at what times.

You might also be able to find someone to share a taxi with you.

Please note, transport is already arranged to and from the venue on both days for those staying at Central Summit Apartments.

I'm at HillCrest who told me they too would organise transport for those attending DrupalDownUnder.
Would be good if we could confirm numbers -- they may have to get a bigger bus!

Will be there Saturday night, so keen to share rides or bus there and back Sat night and Sunday. Staying on for LCA afterward.

Still looking for advice getting transport from Int'l Airport to the Bardon early on Saturday (flying in from NZ, arriving around 8am), though. Any recommendations would be welcome - the Hillcrest recommended Coachtrans, but they don't do drop-offs outside of the city. Is anyone else driving that way, or is there a public transportation recommendation?

Airtrain to South Bank

Dave,

I spoke to coachtrans but they dont go very often, hourly I think. There is a train from the Airport to South Bank station, which is apparently a 5 minute walk up the hill to Hillcrest. Train is about $15 I think.

a cab from the Airport to Hillcrest is about $44. From Hillcrest to Bardon is $21. From Airport to Bardon is $47.

I had planned to get the airtrain to South Bank, walk to Hillcrest and then get the free Bus to the venue. However now I see the bus goes at 7.15 so I think I will miss it by 15 minutes or so. So I will probably still go to Hillcrest from the Airport and see if there is anyone else there wanting to share a cab to the venue. Sounds like you probably wouldnt get in in time for that though. It would still be a little bit cheaper to get a train to South Bank and cab from there to Bardon than straight from the Airport though.

Using train and taxi to get to Bardon Centre from airport

Note for taxi - the Bardon Centre is in the Brisbane suburb of Bardon: 390 Simpson Road, Bardon QLD 4065, Australia

If wanting to catch train from airport and then a taxi to Bradon Centre there are 4 train stations you might choose: Roma St (in CBD - 4.9km), Milton (3.4km), Auchenflower (3.1km) or Toowong (3.6km).

I would think Best options are Roma St (the furthest ride but doesn't require change of trains and waiting for next train - so best option if pushed for time.) - or Toowong (because it has busy taxi rank very near station (Just ask people where Woolworths is - rank is on street in front of Woolies).

On Sat morn trains will leave domestic terminal every 30 mins on the hour and on the half hour. International terminal is the first stop 2min later. Ride to Roma St is $15.00 and 27min or to Toowong is $18.90 and 46min (incl tfr). Taxi direct from airport should be around 30-40 min (above quoted $47.00 ??)

I have a rental car and can offer up to about 3 seats for each of the following;

Friday 21 January

10am: BNE Airport to Central Summit hotel
6pm: To Dinner at Grand Central hotel, either from Central Summit hotel or Bardon Conf venue (Not sure which yet).
Late: Grand Central hotel to Central Summit hotel
Grand Central hotel (dinner) is walking distance from Central Summit hotel.

Saturday 22 January

~~8am: Central Summit hotel to Bardon Conf venue. Note early departure; I have a 9am session.~~

Sunday 23 January

This is about the same as the Shuttle:

8:30am: Central Summit hotel to Bardon Conf venue
Late: Bardon Conf venue to Central Summit hotel.

Monday 24 January

7:30am: Central Summit hotel to BNE Airport

Staying at Central Summit Apartments

I'm flying from Melbourne:

Friday QF 636 arriving 21:15
Sunday QF 637 departing 19:10

I'm happy to share a cab to the Central Summit Apartments if anyone is at the airport around the same time on Friday night.

Likewise for going home - happy to share a cab to the airport. Looks like I miss out on the dinner, but it's the latest flight I could get.

Cab to Airport from Bardon Sunday night

I have a flight back to Sydney leaving Brisbane at 6.50pm Sunday night. So I will be catching a cab to the airport straight from the venue. I will have to leave at the end of the last session at 5.30 though I'd say. If thats not too early for you Im happy to share a cab to the airport. Looks like it is about $47 cab fare.

On Friday, I will be arriving in Brisbane at 5:15pm (17:15) on QF 626. Happy to share a cab to Hillcrest.

I arrive back home to Brisbane early on Sat morning after a week away in Adelaide. Looking to share a taxi from Brisbane airport straight to DDU @ Bardon Centre on Sat morn.

My flight QF660 arrives at 8.10am and I have a checked luggage so if on-time I am probably looking at leaving airport at about 8.30am and will go straight to DDU at the Bardon Centre.

May be of interest to above posters "Mark L" and "dlane" - I could swing by Int'l terminal on way out if you have cleared customs by about 8.40am - can coordinate pickup via sms to save you roaming fees.

Or anyone else?

+1 for Hillcrest. I arrive at 1830 this evening, but I'll have to fly out at 1845 on Sunday so I'll be missing the last few events. If anyone else is leaving early, I'll probably be taxiing to the airport straight from the conference centre.

I'm interested in a lift! I'm arriving from NZ (international) at 7:20 and need to clear customs, but would be keen to get to the conference as early as possible. Don't know how hard it is to get between the domestic and int'l terminals... would it be a possibility?

We can pick you up at the International terminal as the 2 terminals are not far away at all.

Friday night I was able to take the AirTrain from BNE to SouthBank for free. I talked to someone at AirTrain information desk and for some reason....it was free? The ride from BNE to Southbank was about 20 minutes. Then a 10 minute walk from Southbank station to Hillcrest.

(Currently sitting on my balcony watching the sun rise getting caught up on work ;) )
