Let's have a meeting on Git and Drupal 7.
Last wed. of the month. Same time. Same place.
So the big news in Drupal right now is Drupal 7 and Drupal using git. I don't know if any of you have been using git, but it's fairly easy and definitely going to make a difference in your development. I'm remembering an article i read on Flipboard - "Code Fearlessly". Meaning code without worrying about breaking something. I have impleted Git as the defacto repository system at my work, with the ability to have a centralized master repository on a shared network. I think it would be good to share any tips we know of.
There are 2 good videos here: Using Git from Drupal
and here: Git presentation from LA Drupal's Git with Drupal 7 (i really learned a lot from this one)
Drupal 7 is also getting to be awesome, and I'm sure that some of you might have some good tips to share regarding the upgrades from D6
P.S. Anyone want to delve into the mobile (android/iphone) drupal arena with me? I am thinking of how to make Drupal more mobile friendly via CSS (not moduled) and an idea to pull a stock photography API into the new Media module.

I have missed a number of meeting as well and would like to see another meeting this month.
Where have been?
I was wondering the same. I do have a conflict on Wednesdays since I started working with the Boys Scouts and the weekly meetings are always on Wed.
I would like to continue to participate with the Boise Drupal UG, but I will not be able to make it every month.
One more things how about having a D7 release party?
Thanks,
Antonio
new meeting days
If we are discussing new meeting days I am no longer available on tuesdays
New Meeting Days
I would prefer that we stay with Wednesday and it seems to have worked well. It seems that I have every Thursday of the filled with a user group activity and even have to skip one that I would like to attend. Mondays and Fridays generally don't work for group meeting nights. Saturday mornings maybe a possibility. Noon activities are difficult to attend. I would like to see the meetings resume but not only do we need to address the date but also the location and content.
Tuesday's or Thurdays work for me
Tuesdays works best for me, but so do Thursday's. If the consensus it to stay on Wednesdays that would be fine and I would have to try to find someone to cover for me for Scouting meetings on the last Wed of the month.
Thanks.
Meeting woes?
Why don't we just leave the meetings the same days as always? I only asked when the meeting was this month because i forgot if it was the third or fourth wed.
Also, who brings the projector?
projector
I used to bring the projector when I was still with Tribute Media. I am no longer with them though.
Time & Location
Just to confirm and help ensure everyone is on the same page...
Date/Time:
January 26th, 2011 (last Wednesday of the month)
6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Location:
Fuddruckers
3421 North Eagle Rd
Is this correct? Do we need to contact Fuddruckers to reserve the room?
Regards,
Jonathan
Sounds good to me.
I'll be there. Can anyone call Fudd's to reserve the room? Or does it have to be one of our Group Organizers?
I know it's past but just to
I know it's past but just to document it here. Anyone can call Fudds or other locations to setup a meeting given they stay within the group's budget ($0). Before committing the group to a move or a long-term engagement it's great to check with the group. When putting together a meeting please use the "Create Event" link in the top right of the group page so it gets on the calendar as an event. It's always possible to change the date/time or cancel it later if necessary.
Corey is the contact at Fudds and has been great to work with.

I called Fudd's
We are welcome to the same patio room tonight. The manager is going to provide a power cord as well. I don't have a projector, but we have a place to meet.
Jan. 26th Meeting Notes
We were a little light on numbers but even with 3, the company, conversation, and food was good (No, I don't work for Fuddruckers). Besides myself, James and John were there. Conversation was lively with topics of Drupal 7, Git, Drupal backups and migrations, Drupal opportunities or the lack there of in Boise area (James mentioned that when your manager asks for passwords, you might start looking for a new job), Boise salaries, Codecamp, and James even brought up what makes a great programmer (Three Virtues) according to Larry Wall of Perl fame (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_Wall). Meeting ended about 7:30. Next meeting is February 23rd, 6 PM.
