A wonderful thing happened today, I reached out to a community and they welcomed me!
Now just a few short hours later after my first post, I am confident that not only will I be able to have a beer with a few Drupal guys in Ames but it is likely that there is enough interest that a regular monthly meeting is possible. This rocks!
I wanted to re-post this as a true event so people can sign-up and see it on the calendar.

Hi, everybody. I can't make it tonight, but wanted to introduce myself anyway. I am a web developer at Drake and am just beginning the process of moving the main library's site over to Drupal (my first). Wish me luck!

Meeting summary
I just got back from my first Iowa Drupal meeting. It was really great to meet others in Ames that are interested in Drupal. We had 8 people show up and we came to a quick consensus that we should have a regular meeting time.
Here is what we have come up with so far:
- Dldege is investigating a potential meeting place.
- Travist has offered to share his new Drupal player at our next meeting.
- We tentatively set future meetings for the last Monday of the month at 7pm to 9pm. That translates to July 28, 2008.
- When these details firm up I will create an event for it.

I have secured a venue. We
I have secured a venue. We can use the conference room at my place of employment, iMedStudios. We can comfortably accommodate around 12-15 people so we should be OK for the near future. We have an LCD projector and WiFi. There are two beverage establishments next door for post meeting refreshments.
It was great meeting everyone last night and I'm excited to get a formal group up and running.
