If you like the idea, let me know what time(s) work best for your schedule. Maybe noon on a week day? Maybe 5pm on a week day? Just some thoughts.

Skype meeting times
On some days, I could make a 12:00 conference. 5:00 or 5:30 would be good for me almost every day.

I could possibly do the noon conference or some time during the day. 5:00 would be much too early for me in the evening.

If you don't have a skype ID I suggest getting one for free.
First visit http://skype.com/download/ and download the skype application [also free]
Second, install it and create an account. [It's all free]
Our conference will be calls placed from Skype to Skype [that's free]
The only things that cost are SkypeIN and SkypeOut SkypeIn : Buying a telephone number from Skype and allowing people to call you from regular phones and your computer will "ring" I have this and it works nicely but it is not needed to participate in Skype to Skype conference calls SkypeOut : Used to dial regular phones from your computer. I also have this. While I was in Canada last week I had HIGH mobile phone rates and bad reception for Sprint. I used my SkypeOut to call home many times. The audio was great! I pay about $25/yr for the In&Out of Skype. I do not have a regular phone line in my house. I just use Skype and Mobile.Does anyone anticipate the Free Skype account being a barrier to joining us on conference calls? I have a decent headset for my computer. I'll bet not every one does. I do sometimes use the MIC and SPEAKERS on my computer when I KNOW that the room I'm in will be quiet enough so that my callers do not hear kids, dogs, mowers, tanks, caribou, etc in the background.
Let us know... Is a headset and Skype going to hold anyone back from joining a Skype Conference? If so the web is FULL of conference call providers. Some even have free trials, but Skype would be an easy fix.
Lastly,
We could use the #drupal-indy channel in the Internet Relay Chat. This way durring the call we can pass of URLs and other details so that everyone can gather their resources together. Does any one need to get on board with IRC? If so see my post in this group about using Firefox Extensions to log in easily.

Skype IRC and possible time change
I just signed up for a Skype account tonight and made a test call. It came out pretty nicely. My only issue would be that I would actually be at work during the noon conference and like I've already stated 5:00 is a bit early. 6:00 pm would be more doable. I could leave work early to make sure I'm home by 6:00. My Skype ID is nishmktg. I will see if I can load it onto the computer at work but might not be able to. I can not use firefox at work either which is a real drag. Anywho, I'll try to show up some kind of way.

Skype a great idea!
I am all for a Skype call in meeting. I hate that life has gotten in the way of making it to any meetings so far, as I love Drupal and look forward to connecting with fellow users locally! Count me in for Skype meetings, and I should be able to make some in person also. If I were voting I think I could do a noon Skype meetings easier than a 5pm meeting (although I could stay after @ work to make a 5pm call I guess).

I have skype, and I would love to join in, but the only day I would be at my computer at noon is sunday. I would love to join in, but i am only available in the evenings.
Also, when I first installed Skype, it trashed my WAMP server. Took me a while to figure out what was going on. If this happens to you, you can change port settings in Skype to fix it.
Group Skype Test

Who wants to spend about 15 to 20 minutes tomorrow doing some testing?
Tomorrow at 1:30pm EDT [gmt-4] I will ring anyone who is listed as "online." By doing so we'll do a little Group Skype Test. I've done 3ways before but never more. I've enjoyed podcasts where I knoe they have had upto 7 or more ppl on Skype.
I'll tell you this: Turn off your illegal movie/song download programs, make sure your I-Tunes isn't syncing up with the podcasts that you follow, and try to avoid doing any massive file transferring while on Skype. That's not to say that if you do you'll get dropped, just that the more bandwidth you reserve for Skype the happier we all will be.
If you find yourself silent for an extended period of time, then use the onboard SKYPE mute to stop your sys from broadcasting. sometimes that button is not convenient for me, so I will atleast turn off my mic on my headset. That's what I do on my Skype conference calls even if the room I'm in is fairly quiet.
So right now... Goto your Skype and put my name in the oval box near the top of your interface. Then hit enter. It will give you the option to CALL me or ADD to contacts. Choose the latter.
If you're available at 1:30 tomorrow, then make sure your signed in. I'll call you one by one [those of you who show as available] then we'll get our first taste of Group Skyping!
OH YAH... be sure to check out http://groups.drupal.org/node/10440 and get yourself on the IRC room. That is a TrEmEnDoUs resource for Drupalers of ALL levels! And we'll be using it during our conference calls!

So I see that themudking and Tanisha were available but I no showed.
My apologies.
Let's try it again. A quick 15 minute or less group Skype to get our feet wet.

I'm booked this week until Friday at noon. Might I suggest that you start a new thread to promote the Skype test? I missed the last one because it was buried in this thread. Just a suggestion.
If an evening time works for anyone, I would be up for that too.

Well thank you for clarifying that I had the right time. No big deal on my end. I loaded the program onto my broker's computer (shhh) and did not bring my headset. I would have been mute.
I'll be sure to carry my headset around for the next scheduled session. I should be in front of a computer somewhere I'm sure.
