Just wondering, what modules are the best to use on Drupal 6 for a Social Network? The ones posted by Huitalk are mostly for 5.x...

That depends on your goal.
Typicalliy I would use "content profile" but BIO and Nodeprofile has not a D6 Version. In the HEAD / CVS you can find some Code, but at this point I think D6 is not a good solution to buil a Social Network. All good modules are only in D5 Versions available.

I want school groups website
I want that separate schools of my region to form a group.. When a student or Teacher Sign-Up they also select the name of there school and automatically join the respected school group..where they can post :
1. School Events (Calender) 2. News 3. School Forums 4. POLLS 5. Students Blogs.
That was all Inside a School Group.
Second I want to Have the Comparison B/w schools.. and Students blogs can be featured on home page.
and Third Organize online events.. like eJournalism b/w Students of DIfferent school using Blogs and for Giving Points and Judging Results we can consider RATING and COMMENTS or +ve / -ve feedback or no. of Subscribers

First take a look at the
First take a look at the module "OG" (open group).
You can use Tags for Groups and you can construct any Content Typ with CCK and assign to Groups.
So you can get NEWS, Dates, Events.
Userpoints is good, but has no Drupal 6 release, only an Dev Version with similar like Alpha quality.
Any other module that depends on User points, will wait with Development of a D6 release unless it is stable.
In my opinion you should use Drupal 5.
All modules that are needed for social project are unstable or in Dev for Drupal 6. I think this will take some month to get stable.
I was not able to use OG
It was giving some error... yes Userpoint was giving too. but its now working fine and I like it..
Can you explain how Organic Groups or this Open Groups work means what all are the features.
I know Drupal 5 had all tools available.. but I used Fantastico to install Drupal.. i had Drupal 5 earlier but I unknowingly upgraded to Drupal 6 and lost Og and Userpoints ..
but yes got my desired theme..
Currently I am using Friends, userpoint, fivestar rating, Bowob Chat.. but I want to understand the usage of CCK and Views module.. can anyone help
How about using Flag Module
I have installed it.. and It has added an Add to Favorites button below every post.
On clicking it changes to remove from Favorites,, But i am not able guess out where can actually a person see his favorite posts.. and can we get the no. of people who have added it to favorites ..
you all would have seen Yahoo answers.. it has option to Thumbs Up/Down an answer ... can we have it on drupal.. apart from rating system I want to use this on Comments recieved by the post no. of positive posts and no. of -ve post will effect the judgement about the Post..
