We wanted to let you know of a rather special community event coming to Microsoft NERD in Cambridge from April 29 – May 1st.

New England GiveCamp brings together non-profit organizations and developers, designers, and other technical professionals for a weekend of developing web sites and other custom software to benefit the participating charities. Last year, 100+ volunteers donated an estimated $170,000 of services to 24 New England non-profit organizations, with solutions developed in WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, Quickbooks, Salesforce.com, Silverlight, ASP.NET and more.

There are four ways you can help:

  1. Invite non-profits you are familiar with to submit a project for consideration for GiveCamp (http://newenglandgivecamp.org/non-profits)
  2. Help us secure sponsorships to cover the meals and other logistics for the weekend (e-mail: negc2011@hotmail.com)
  3. Volunteer your talents at the event. Registration will open in March at http://www.newenglandgivecamp.org/volunteers
  4. Tell your friends to check out the event at http://newenglandgivecamp.org and follow @NEGiveCamp on Twitter.

GiveCamp is an event like no other, with an impact perhaps best described by one of last year’s beneficiaries: “Lives were changed this weekend.” We hope you can join us.

Jim --

Let us know (drupal@canopach.com) if you have any YMCA/YWCA non-profits participating in your upcoming GiveCamp. Would a template, or starter kit for Y's interested in Drupal sites be of interest? We could offer design and program management talent, if we could team with the appropriate development talent.

Thanks.
