Read moreFebruary 2012 TC Drupal Meetup: Drupal in Public Media
For many years, developers and technical-minded folks working in
public media have tried to share code, resources, and ideas.
Unfortunately, most of these initiatives have found little traction or
failed altogether. And yet everyone in public media seems to
understand that developers should not be solving the same problems in
silos and that we should communicate better, establish best practices,
and share more code.
Within the past year or so, an unprecedented opportunity to
collaborate has presented itself because numerous public media
organizations -- including Chicago Public Radio, Minnesota Public
Radio, New Hampshire Public Radio, NPR, PBS, PRI, WGBH, Wisconsin
Public Radio, and many others -- have moved to Drupal.
At the February meeting of the Twin Cities Drupal User Group, come to
hear our own Matthew Tift, the lead Drupal Developer at Wisconsin
Public Radio, talk about the challenges that public media
organizations have faced in the past and how they are trying to use
Drupal, and its community, as a site for sharing.

I am having a terrible time trying to install jQuery UI module. I have downloaded the module, unzipped and installed into libraries but I am still getting fatal errors
Fatal error: Call to undefined function jquery_ui_get_version() in /home/content/83/8664383/html/sites/all/modules/date/date_popup/date_popup.module on line 129
I clearly do not have this installed correctly... I have read the ReadMe file as well and I am no farther ahead. Can someone help walk me through the process?
Thanks!

Read moreHow do I get started with Drupal?
So far, I have substantial experience with HTML and basic experience with Ruby on Rails.
My questions:
1. What books, web sites, tutorials, etc. do you recommend for getting started in Drupal?
2. How quickly do Drupal books become obsolete? In the world of Ruby on Rails, books become worthless after only a year.
November TC Drupal meetup (ONE WEEK EARLY!)
At October's TC Drupal meetup, we decided that too many people would be traveling to Grandma's house on the 4th Wednesday of the month. So, we're moving things up a week and holding our November meeting on the 3rd Wednesday, November 16th from 7-9PM. The friendly Twin Cities Ubercart & E-Commerce group folks who normally meet at this same time in the same room have agreed to merge their meeting with this one.
Topic? A Local Drupal Development Environment Install-Fest. Come get help setting up your laptop to accommodate doing Drupal development. This includes:
- webserver software (the *AMP stack)
- Drupal (core + existing sites or that Drupal distro you've been eyeing)
- code editing software (to edit PHP, HTML, CSS, JS files)
- file and version control (communicating with your live site's hosting environment)
It's all open source and there are several flavors to choose from from all-in-one applications to using your computer's built-in software. If you've ever wanted to get this set up for yourself or help others get their dev on, please join us!
Come for the pizza, shared beverages and Drupal camaraderie.
See you there.

Does anyone in the group have any experience achieving PCI Compliance with, e.g. SecurityMetrics.com? In my case, I could save client a ton of money by solving this.

Is there a best practice for this kind of thing?

Last month we explored building modules and had one of our larger turnouts in a while. This month, let's talk theming. Theming itself is too broad for one meeting, so we'll focus on specific topic -- base themes. When it comes to crafting the look and feel of your Drupal site, where do you start? Base themes or starter themes and related frameworks are incredibly useful. Every themer has their favorite and a rationale to back it up. Come prepared either to talk about your favorite base/starter theme (and how it fits into your site building process) or to ask your questions.
Theming, pizza, shared beverages, Drupal camaraderie -- what else could you ask for? Funny you should ask because we'll also have another copy of the recently released The Definitive Guide to Drupal 7 to give away to one lucky attendee.
Come share, learn and socialize!
See you there.
