Hi all,
I am completely new to drupal and have really only created sites using HTML and in dreamweaver and i need to learn about drupal.
Does anyone know of any training courses available (preferably in Sydney but not limited to) or the best sites for online tutorials or even books.
Any info is greatly appreciated.
cheers
Lisa

Drupal Training
Hi,
Myself and others are organsing some training within Sydney however not in the immediate future. I would love to hear your feedback as a new Drupal user what you would like to learn and suitable formats. Also the best place I can point you is Lullabot DVD's http://store.lullabot.com/
If you started with something like Site Building With Drupal and Theming Basics For Drupal you would be in good steed also if you want to learn module development please see Drupal Module Development DVD however with so many modules out there you probably wont have a direct need to create a custom module.
The Lullabot DVD's are by far the best training option available for Drupal.
Hi there, being new to drupal
Hi there,
being new to drupal i would have to say i would like to learn it from the ground up. From installation on different platforms to creating sites and changing them to diferent themes. At least thats what I think i would like to learn :-)
Let me know if you get any training together later in the year as there is always something to learn.
drupal videos
Hi Lisa
All the DVDs in the Lullabot learning series are available to watch for a subscription fee (about US$55 a month from memory) on their drupalize.me site. I agree they are good videos, much cheaper than buying them outright at the site. There are also many other videos from conferences on the site.
I also have found the Drupal videos from Tom Geller on lynnda.com very well point together, probably at a more basic level than lullabot. (which suits me fine) Also lynnda.com is cheaper starting around $25 a month.
I noticed that all the sessions from Drupalcon Chicago were recorded too so you can check them out for what interests you at the website, for free. http://chicago2011.drupal.org
more drupal videos
Hi Lisa,
I agree with the other posters - the Lullabot content (Videos, and for me particularly the audio podcasts) were an amazing way for me to get my head around the Drupal environment. I also purchased the book "Using Drupal" by the Lullabot crew (O'Reilly publishing). I bought a copy on fishpond and it was delivered in under 48hours. Even though I consider myself beyond that introductory level now - I still flick back to my dog-eared copy to check the Lullabot's site recipes.
Another resources that I found EXTREMELY invaluable was the video podcasts over at Mustardseed Media http://mustardseedmedia.com/podcast they include great frank discussion about modules and where to use them, and fantasic quick tutorials on have to get them installed and up and running.
There are heaps of resources on Drupal.org - however I find the detailed info on D.O. usually only made sense to me after I had listened to a podcast about it that gave me some context.
Agree
Lullabot, mustardseed, drupal.org (the latter with the help of the search option, as information can be scattered).
