Search filter for support

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Trimmed Idea: Associate every content in the site (forums, comments, pages, books) to a version of Drupal.

I've started working with Drupal 6 a few months ago to build a city portal. As you can imagine, the project requires a lot of tools (modules) and involves a lot of doubts about Drupal capabilities or flexibility. Even after a good reading of Drupal Handbook, a lot of questions have popped up about the possibility or not to do something we need, without making our own version of Drupal and avoiding build whole modules without needing.

Well, it happens that every time we have one of this questions and go search a module or successful recipes that solve the problem it's like childbirth. And the biggest issue in it is that we find many results for our search referring to previous Drupal versions. Even within drupal.org it is an issue, because Drupal 6 is new and most of the contributed content is about old versions.

So our suggestion to solve this issue is to put an extra field on each content creation page, to define which drupal version it is in reference to, like the modules work. This way, when a user would search for content, the version filter would make the search job much easier.

This field could exist even in user profiles (allowing more than one option), so the search gets predefined and the search for users could be restricted this way either.

To clear the idea a little more, i've done a image with the idea layout.

That's it. I hope it can be useful and i'm sorry for not having the time to help now.
