I'm a defender of free software and I've used Drupal. I would like to propose a new project to be conducted at GSOC:
Aegir is a tool that allows you to automate many tasks related to managing and implementing large Drupal sites, allowing for example the installation of multiple sites on one server. Currently, however, you need to manually create DNS entries for sites, pointing it at your host. So, my proposal is to create an interface that interacts with various APIs of DNS, such as Slicehost, thus automating this process.

I still havent made any path to drupal. However, I used drupal and I liked his philosophy, so I was excited to help this project. This semester I will finish my master's project, whose title is "Automatic Image Annotation using Descriptors of Images, Visual Dictionaries, Genetic Programming and Association Rules".
The programming languages that I have experience are:
Python, Java, PHP, C/C++, Shell Script (Bash), SQL
