Current themes needing review

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

If you have already got a theme(s) listed as a full project on Drupal.org then you will be aware of the process of having to have your first project 'reviewed and tested by the community' before being granted access to create new full projects.

The people who review and devote time need a big thanks as they enable to D.O. community and resources to grow, so thanks!
This process however, is time consuming and left to the 'few' from what I can understand, which means the process takes a long time. This can be frustrating for potential contributers and could put off some potentially great contributions from ever being submitted.

With this in mind, I have been through each of the submissions to sift for themes and a list of the current ones waiting are below. There aren't as many as I expected, but it would be great if some establish/seasoned themers could pick an issue and try and help.

The list (as of 4 Mayl 2011)

Commitment

I'm currently in the process of getting a module reviewed, so I've been following the chatter about the review process.

i decided to make a commitment to review at least one module/theme per week to help. Hopefully we can work together to make this a better process!

Yeah that can be frustrating

Yeah I know how it can be frustrating. I tried to add a module some time ago, and it took weeks for reviewers to respond. So when you wait for something like a week and get a response that is just about the procedure, or a question. You answer - and then wait for another week or so. After going through that I felt like "Come on, I am just trying to contribute, to be helpful!" Closed my case and went to github. Really felt like I am not welcome and have to struggle through the elite to do something useful.

It's different now

Alexei Rayu, it looks like your application was back when Drupal.org was on CVS. There's still a back log, but the process is much better now that Drupal.org is on Git. For starters, you don't even need any approval at all now to put your code on Drupal.org as a sandbox project, which is very similar to Github. And sandbox projects also greatly speed up the review process for full projects, which are simply more exposed to the larger Drupal community than sandbox or Github projects.

To be clear, the goals of the review process have nothing to do with elitism or exclusivity, and if that comes up anywhere in the process, we should address it directly. One of the goals is actually much the opposite: to welcome new people into the contributor community through mentoring. If anyone would like to help with that goal, there's no limit on who can do reviews. Even people who don't have full project access yet can help review and speed up the experience for new contributors.

I hope the process will speed

I hope the process will speed up now and more contributors will be joining in.

In theory it's a great

In theory it's a great system, submit, get feedback, correct mistakes etc. Everyone should learn something and Drupal should benefit benefit from the quality submission.

It's the time factor that I guess causes the problems, reviewers are experienced and have little time, submitters are eager to contribute and therefore have a bit less patience. I know personally it's only been 2 days but I need a new F5 key as I've refreshed that page so many times :D
