Hi everyone,
I have two dates available for us to use the Go Slow cafe (http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz/go-slow-cafe-glasgow) for our next drupal drinks. One falls on Thursday 19th May a few days before DrupalCamp Edinburgh and the other is on Thursday 2nd June.
We'll have the cafe to ourselves and as mentioned before it would be £3 per head to use the space. Food available for those who wish it and it is BYOB (plenty of local booze shops).

Could be a good idea having the meet every once in a while somewhere like the Go Slow, instead of in the centre all the time. Also, it's very close to Queen's Park train station so it is easy to get to from Central Station.
Are there any dates further into June?

Off topic but had an idea...
Was thinking today about a possible experimental alternative to drinks for a Drupal meet-up in the future.
Given that we have a number of very able and talented people with diverse skill sets amongst the Glasgow group, I thought perhaps we could put these skills to use in the form a sprint to rapidly develop an app / service / site for a local charity or community group.
Am thinking that we could gather stake holders from a given non-profit organisation / cause / group and rapidly develop a site that suits their needs. In 6 hours (or more) I'm sure we could design and build an excellent product that might otherwise be outside the budget of a local community group. We could also provide advice on things like content strategy, SEO, social media and so on...
As an event, it could provide good press for Drupal and would be a fun way to share skills in a working environment.
Any thoughts?

I spoke to @verbosity over the weekend and it appears IRISS would be able to sponsor such an event (room, smartboard, tea / coffee) if it involved a local non-profit community group.
What are your timescales?
Hi everyone. I work for Long Term Conditions Alliance Scotland - an umbrella group or network of over 200 organisations representing health conditions. Many are small local charities/community groups and although most of our mebers have websites, some do not or do not have the resource to develop this as they would wish. Some might also have ideas for apps, but lack knowledge/resources to develop. We have a monthly e-newsletter. The next one is in June so we could appeal for any groups that might be interested in working with you? When would you be looking to find a group by and where and when would they need to meet you? Does it need to be a Glasgow-based group?

This sounds like the perfect match! At present we are looking at the start of July for the charity code bash.
We'll be putting up a new thread about the event today as this one is little off-topic. Once it's opened we can all pitch in on the details.

Hi everyone,
I would be interested in trying to get more involved in the drupal community in Scotland. Personally I've been using drupal for a few years (since v4). My first drupal site was for the my local sub aqua club, which I still maintain and is currently running on d6. At some point I want to migrate it to d7 with a native gallery module rather than embedding g2 (see: http://bit.ly/kfh5au); and I would also like to find/design a nice looking theme. The main piece of drupal work for me is for SDRN (see: http://bit.ly/jA16Py) which is based on d6, several of the popular addon modules, and a sub-theme of zen. Again, we will look to move to d7 but we have no immediate plans. Web development isn't my core work - I'm more focused on software, so I see myself as an experienced drupal user & adminstrator.
Anyway, if there is stuff that you can see that I've done that may be of interest to others then let me know. Otherwise, I'll try come along and meet some fellow drupal fans.

Thanks, I was thinking about it, but unfortunately I can't make it this weekend. I'm moving home in a few weeks so my weekends are currently spent packing and sorting stuff out. Anyway, I'll keep an eye on this thread and others that appear... been meaning to say hi and get involved for a while.
