Hello,

Drupal Noob here . . .

I am currently working on rebuilding our company website with Drupal 6 and looking to build some contacts with skilled drupal developers in the area (Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton). Specifically looking for someone that is available for consultation, support and/or development assistance on an as-needed basis. In other words, when we run into development beyond our knowledge, or get snagged on something along the way, we could contact you and hire you to assist or support.

Feel free to contact me at jeff@mccscp.com if you are interested.

Thank you!

Not sure if I should have put this in as a job versus a discussion, so hope this is ok.
New to the group.

Jeff

You'll def want to come to the NC meetup then...

Most of us live in North County, and should be able to consult on base...

(I live in Carlsbad but am all over the county most weeks) - Being a former Pendleton Marine I am interested but have less than no time. My crew at Transparatech "might" be able to help, but is pretty much setup for larger sized or enterprise type jobs.

There are quite a few people who come to the meetups who would fit your level of scope though.

You'd be doing yourself a huge favor by posting the scope & specs as exactly as possible in a jobs posting before coming to the meetup. I am sure you have your reasons for using Drupal 6 over Drupal 7.

Hey thanks redhatmatt for the

Hey thanks redhatmatt for the quick response.

I will try to get out to a meetup soon. Sounds like it could be a great opportunity to meet people and make some connections with more experienced Drupal people.

Regarding D6 vs. D7:
We made the decision to go the Drupal route versus our current CMS (Sitefinity) right after Drupal 7 was released. So I started learning and building in Drupal 7, but soon realized that many of the modules and themes we wanted to use were still in development, primarily modules actually. After struggling with that, we decided to regroup and develop the site with Drupal 6 for now. It has been a bit of a bummer having started with the cool new features of 7 and then stepping backwards to 6, but hopefully it was the right choice for now.

Anyways, look forward to meeting some of you soon at one of the meetups.

Thanks Again!

Hi Jeff,

There are several modules for 6 that were integrated into the core for 7. You'll most likely want admin menu and adminrole to name a couple. Views and cck were also integrated. so you'll most likely want those to get that 7 feel.
