Article vs. Blog

Are there any rules/guidelines when to use the Blog module rather than having people just write articles?

Blog sort of makes sense if you have several people generating content on a site and that content will be grouped by the user that created it. That said, I haven't used Blog on an active website (including my blog) in years. CCK (or Fields in 7) and Views do a good job of deprecating Blog.

Thanks Allen. That was my understanding after reading but I didn't want to miss something. Topics will be the main organization method.
