Hi Guys,
I would like to get some feedback from people (Particularly those who work from home) who would be interested in forming a workgroup, mabey only once a week and perhaps a meeting pint at the state library, i work from home and find that it lacks the creative atmosphere and social interaction that i like, we may be able to book out a room, it already has internet facilities, so everyone can grab their laptops, and join in an environment with like minded people, do your work, share a story, we may be able to bring a water cooler to stand around, any thoughts??

I'll probably be freelancing for a while soon and definitely have my eyes on the awesome state library as a workplace. Have been doing this for a bit on weekends for side projects.
The Edge is a great place...amazingly well stocked labs for everything and free....makes me want to do a bit of digital art foolaroundery as well, to get my head out of code.
What/Where is The Edge?
I know it means I am showing my age... But what/where is The Edge?

It's an impressively open and well-equipped "new media space", for lack of a better word. It's part of Brisbane's State Library. I don't say this often about Brisbane, but along with the gallery of modern art next door it's really world-class.
There's informal booths overlooking the river where people can work, meet and play, a sound recording studio, a lab full of high-end iMacs (dual boot, for Windows), an auditorium and a tinkering lab for messy stuff. Good coffee, too.
Best, it's all free and the times I've been there it was very relaxed. It's just nice having other people around doing their stuff, whether you interact with them or not....for me, anyway.
The link above will give you more details.
New to Brisbane
Hi
I have just moved to Brisbane and would love to meet other web developers with Drupal experience
Great
Yeah i have read about the edge and been in there for lectures, its a great workspace and am in the same situation, more creative and less code, i always do my skype confrences at the library as it provides a nice backdrop, if your interested in getting a group together that would be awesome, i have no friends in my industry so it would be great to have some people to talk shop with and share some ideas

If I end up freelancing for a while I'll definitely be up for that, in fact I'd be there daily. Even if not, I plan to spend some semi-regular time at the edge (sounds wrong) for both work and play. Technically I still work for BCC/ourbrisbane full time at this stage, but I could shuffle hours to have a half-day off per week to catch up, get other things done, talk shop etc.

There are a lot of shared work spaces in melbourne, but I'm always happy to catch up with people... Add me to the list :-)

Just to follow up on this, I'm working at The Edge pretty much every day now, usually between 12 and 4pm. Really enjoying it, best free office in town. Come along if you feel like it.

@redback: Cool, see you then. They are closed on Mondays and otherwise open from 12pm - 8pm.
Tim, I've booked window bay 1 for Friday 30th between 12 and 4pm. Usually I just book them day by day, but this way it's all arranged. And yes, it's next to the state library: http://edgeqld.org.au/contact-us/. Catch you there!
Window bay
Does window bay mean a view of the river or PC computer or both? Do you have to be a member to book a bay?
Window bays are having
Window bays are having benches and tables and are overlooking the river - just nice spaces really. No computers at those, you bring your laptop. However, you can also book dual-boot Macs in another lab, but they are more fitted for multimedia work, rather than web dev.
The Edge
Did you go to the Edge on Friday? I was there between 1 and 2.
