Hi,
We needed to get the details in by the end of the day today which I've just managed to do so thought I'd post here so you all know what's going on, hopefully some of you will come along / help out / spread the word!!! We have some interest from sponsors already (us three so far lol) - I'm also going to apply for https://association.drupal.org/grants which would be cool!
This is a great opportunity for us to spread the word about Drupal and be part of a month-long celebration of digital stuff in Brighton - an opportunity not to be missed! http://brightondigitalfestival.co.uk/
We're keeping it nice and simple, not going to get techie, and hopefully bring a few more people into our local community and help kick-start something cool...

We've just managed to confirm details for our event entry for the Brighton Digital Festival. We have been running local Drupal events for the last three years and are going to be running an event to increase awareness of Drupal at the Lighthouse (http://www.lighthouse.org.uk/) on Friday 16th September.
I'm going to set up our website over the weekend as we're forming the Brighton Area Drupal Association - it will be at http://bad-ass.org.uk ;)
When I say "We", I mean myself Steve Purkiss, freelance Drupal consultant and developer; Kevin Elliott, Director of WhiteHat Media; and Guy Shneerson, Director of http://blue-bag.com.
The schedule isn't finalised, however the event will be 1.30pm-6pm with the bar open after. We are probably going to charge a token entry fee of around £5 to help cover costs and to make sure people really want to go - too often free tickets are taken but people don't turn up!

Wording.... last chance before deadline in an hour!
I've only just managed to spend a few minutes on updating the wording after our discussions last night. It needs to be in by 6pm so if you have any comments let them be known... I'm mega-busy for client demo tomorrow so don't have much time either :( It's currently at 120 words exactly, which is the limit.

Steve that looks spot on to
Steve that looks spot on to me... good stuff...
cheers kev
check the latest one - does it read better or the second one better? Had two "withs" I didn't like in the first one, but now I'm confused.... lol
filling your inbox...
OK that didn't read well, try this for size, it's not perfect but it might just do:

We also need 1 to 3 images of at least 1024x768 - failing any other ideas I was just gonna send the drupal logo so it's not showing any one particular angle
Text
Looks spot on to me.
Thanks...
Thanks Rod - do you think the first or second version on this thread reads better?
Last one looks good, see what
Last one looks good, see what you mean on the "2 withs" version - vote for last one...
re images keep it simple and use 1 std Drupal logo?
Thanks Kev
Thanks Kev - just needed a proof-read on that, I'll go for the second one.
WRT the logo - the Druplicon is there but not the new Drupal wording as it is on drupal.org. I really like @mortendk's new tees, did tweet him, not sure if he's around - there's a smaller image of it on his website http://geekroyale.myshopify.com/collections/frontpage/products/drupal-tr...
I just think the Druplicon on it's own is a bit poo, but maybe not...
Images - Choose out of these 3... you have < 10 mins!

...or just the Druplicon on it's own.
Bonus 4th option: Our red druplicon
looks good
Nice one steve looks good i agree the second is spot on
a possible alternative wording for
-or-
"With over half a million contributing developers in 200+ countries, Drupal powers 2% of the web"
but yours is good to
OK, this is what I sent...
Talk about cutting it fine! Here's what I just sent - thanks for the help everyone and props to @mortendk for allowing us to use his tees... just thought they might be a little bit more interesting than just the Drupalicon, but I may be wrong. Can't be right all the time ;)
Hi,
Our event is on Friday 16th September at the Lighthouse, 1.30-6pm.
Our website link is http://bad-ass.org.uk
I have attached three images - not sure what format they will be displayed in - feel free to use one of them, whichever fits in best (i.e. don't want two t-shirts but can do one t-shirt one and the Druplicon logo, let me know if you can - when I looked at the site I only saw smaller image places and only one image on listings.
Here's our final copy for the site:

gotta be "over" 2% if changed
gotta be "over" 2% if changed - sounds better!
Steve I agree and like the wording, cool font as well as the drupicon - hope I got in in time?!
Re logo whats the significance of the red - just denoting the bad ass aspect?
cheers, Kev
Final final copy
I tried, hopefully they'll use this version. Re the logo - the red, yup, that's just cos it's a bad-ass little druplicon ;)

Sorry Guy - cant have to
Sorry Guy - cant have to overs which is what I was suggesting - oops.. I think "Contributed to by over.." flows less - all by the by now anyway!
Just goes to show how copy is hard to get spot on - especially when you stare at it too long!
F*ck it.
We have two overs. It's exactly 120 words, and I don't really mind two overs, it's not as bad as the two withs, and we do have over half a million developers and over 2% of the web, so there ;)
Right, back to the 'day' job...
Well done Steve for picking
Well done Steve for picking up the batten and sorting this one - roll on all interested parties!
thanks!
Thanks Kev, I'm really excited about it! Just getting my breath back from all that deadline stuff then will sort out a plan otherwise it'll be September before we know it!
Meanwhile, people feel free to post ideas etc.!
its all good
yes over works but i am sure no one is going to go over it in such detail like we do, the main thing is to get it in and focused on the website as that’s where people will spend more time to try and establish if its the event for them
Jolly splendid
Sounds great.
Surprise attack from the in-laws last night - sorry I couldn't attend. Only just had a chance to catch up.
