I work for the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) and a colleague of mine, Daniel McCartney is running an urgent project to design and build a Drupal website about a new award within the sexual and reproductive health community. The award will be presented annually to an individual who demonstrates courage and outstanding leadership in advocating for the sexual rights of sexual and gender minorities, particularly in environments where these individuals face continued rejection, marginalization, isolation and persecution.
IPPF is an equal opportunities employer and we'd really like to try to find an LGBT Drupal developer (preferably based in or near London, England) to work with us.
The call for nominations for the award is proposed to open on Monday, 12 September 2011 so the website will need to be fully functional by that date. The first draft of the website is required for a committee meeting on Thursday, 18 August 2011 where the website will be presented to attendees for comments.
If you're interested, or have any questions about the proposal, please directly contact Daniel (dmccartney@ippf.org) by Wednesday, 20 July 2011. Anyone expressing interest will be invited to present their proposed concept for the site during the week of 25 July 2011.

Not me
I think it's deplorable that you're hiring on the basis of sexual orientation. I don't care that it's on "my" side -- it's still bigotry.

IANAL, but I'm pretty sure
IANAL, but I'm pretty sure that it's illegal in the UK to write such an ad, no? Chris, why not phrase it, "we are an equal-opportunity employer and would welcome any applications from Drupal's LGBT community", etc, etc. Ideally, that would also be true, but I think by posting such an ad, you're opening yourself up to potential legal complications you and your project really, really don't want. :/
Correction
Hi Tom and Catherine, thanks very much for taking the time to reply and for pointing out my mistake.
Tom, you're absolutely right, it would be absolutely wrong for us to only be offering this project to any specific group. I should have made it clearer that anyone can get in touch and that we certainly don't discriminate against anyone based on sexuality or any other factor.
As Catherine suggested, I will edit the posting. The reason I posted it specifically in this group is because we were wondering if there might be a few members of this group with a special passion and interest for the issues this award is celebrating.
Please forgive my error.
Good show!
Thanks for being willing to respond to my point, even though I stated it roughly. Best of luck with the position!
