Hey gang!
We have a rather unique and interesting opportunity before us.
James Moriarty of www.moriartymedia.com runs a dev shop in town that uses Drupal rather heavily. He is also the chief organizer of a networking gig on 11/22/08 named www.INDYBANG.org [go spend some time on that site and get a feel for what it is :-) ]
He asked me to do a booth at the event to represent Drupal. He also offered free booth space. We discussed it for a while and the best idea I could come up with was to have the Indy Drupal Users Group show up and rock-it-DRUPAL-style!
This would require us to move ahead with indydrupal.com and get a presentable site up in short order. We can do it.
I am posting this as an event so that people can register as attending. What I really need is people who can join us for 3pm to 6pm
for the networking portion.
Here's a blurb from James: "The hours between 3 and 6 p.m. represent the formal networking part of the day, with 23 interactive booths, door prizes and a juried elevator pitch contest. This is the only part of the day when we ask you to staff your interactive booth. "
After 6pm the party begins and lasts until midnight. It will be free for us, but don't feel obligated to stay.
They are expecting about 1,000 people. The last indybang was well attended and well received. I have invited ACQUIA to participate as little or as much as they desire in this event. We will see how that turns out. If nothing else, we will be on site with a slide show on multiple flat screens. The slide show will consist of a VERY impressive display of notable sites that have all been developed in your favorite CMS and mine. :-)
I will see that we have some business card sized handouts to give to interested parties. What will be on those is up in the air at this time and will depend somewhat on whether or not Acquia is involved.
If the employers of our attending members wish to promote their companies as well, this opportunity will exist. Slingshot SEO, Promethius, FrequentTraffic.com, etc. contact my directly through The contact tab and we will discuss it.
If you didn't know it the IMA is a Drupal Site http://www.imamuseum.org/
So is the HSA http://www.herron.iupui.edu/
I'm open to any and all suggestions that you may have. I see this as an amazing opportunity to network with the arts community and the business community at the same time.
Use this post for Q&A and if we need to we will get together for a special planning session for the individuals who wish to come. We may need to get together and have a Site-Sprint to get our site ready... What do you say to that? maybe next Saturday? Another openhouse style meeting?

My last request...
I'm finalizing plans for the indybang.org event.
For those of you who are willing, the networking portion is 3pm to 6pm next Saturday.
At that point you can either leave or stay for the concerts, performances, contests, and festivities.
I would love to have us be there with a few large monitors and showing off the slide show of "Famous Drupal Sites."
Does any one have a large monitor or 2 to share? Security is tight and we can pack it up at 6pm. I have 2 17inch flat monitors but I'd love to have something bigger.
I'm working on getting some promotional material printed up. If any one is willing they can chip in for the costs. Every bit counts.
The organizer of the event uses Drupal. He loves Drupal. He asked us to take a free booth and promote Drupal. The point here is to make it known that a local group exists that uses and promotes Drupal.
We can steer people to the drupalindy.com site where we will have a site wide contact form inviting users to request bids on projects.
If dog geek and aaron are unable to work out the site design, I'll throw a stock D6 theme, a nice one, and run with it.
I'll take as much help as I can get.

Anyone Available
If anyone is available, it would be nice to have a good showing there today.
Doug and I got a big 5x3 banner printed that will be able to be re-used for events like this in the future. We also have fliers to pass out and we did a quick-theming job on the durpalindy.com site.
If you can't make it, you might at least take a look at the site and compare it to the layout that Dog Geek submitted. I know it isn't on-point yet, but we need some content to fill it out and then we can finish a lot of the theme work. Any help there would be appreciated as well.
We're going to this event to make people aware that the Indy Drupal Group is here and we're active! The print-outs point them here and to the website.
Thanks Aaron and Doug....
Thanks Aaron and Doug for representing the Drupal community at the IndyBANG! event! You Guys did a great job and your booth looked great! -- James
