Task list for writing the proposal

Task #1
- write some paragraphs about the "reachability" of Maastricht, covering: how to reach maastricht by road, rail and air.
Include:
- - distances by road from major european cities.
- - connection by "old skool" rail: netherlands, Belgium and Germany
- - connection by TGV to Liege form Cologne, Brussels, Paris, Lille and London
- - distance maastricht --> nearby airports
- - flights from major euro cities to nearby airports
Use between 250 and 500 words. No formatting. Use tables where necessary

Task #2
- write a paragraph about the proximity of technical universities and universities colleges ("hogescholen")
- - in belgium (vlaanderen & Wallonie), Germany, netherlands. include names and specialties (if they have any)
- - nr. of students
- - mention some of the bachelor, master studies that have something in common with drupal, web cms-es, open sourcery
- - dont forget Leuven
Use max 200. No formatting. Use tables where necessary

Task #3
- draw a map of northern Europe with maastricht in the center and distances to major citites.
- - see for example the map on http://www.fnps2008.com/maastricht.html
- - mention at least amsterdam, paris, some major German city, brussels, antwerp, groningen :P, o and maastricht of course
- - use a common font for labels (so that other images in the proposal can resemble yours)
- - use common html colors (http://www.immigration-usa.com/html_colors.html) (so that other images in the proposal can resemble yours)
- - deliver as a large png or jpeg

Task #4
- draw a map of the "euregio" of southern netherlands, belgium and germany. with maastricht in the centre
- - mention at least hasselt, genk, liege, aachen, eindhoven, some ruhrgebiet city, cologne, o and maastricht of course
- - use a common font for labels (so that other images in the proposal can resemble yours)

- - deliver as a large png or jpeg

gather stats about attendance of past drupalcons
- use a table

(we ll use this to do a wild stab at the estimated attendance)

Task #6 write a maximum 150 words bio about yourself.

the proposal will contain a section about the organizers. therefore i need you to write a short (max 150 words) biography about yourself

include elements that impress the Association (for example: experience, drupal-community-value, karma-points, youthful enthousiasm), but don't forget to mention that you are human (mention things that make you tick (beside drupal))

write in 3rd person. so instead of "I'm a Microsoft Sharepoint consultant" write "He is a Microsoft Sharepoint consultant"

send them to me or dump it directly into the proposal

Brussels, Düsseldorf and Cologne are the major airports that serve Maastricht.

The Dutch-speaking Drupal community has been around from the early days of the drop.org community. From the start, the Dutch community was broader than just coders and included business people, people who document, focussed on security; hence people who contributed in more ways than "just code". This rich mixture of enthousiasts has resulted in a booming broad ecosystem around Drupal where users, coders and business unite.

It consists of active drupalistas from the small area of Flanders and the Netherlands that gather often at drupaljams, code sprints, monthly user group meetings and tech conferences such as Fosdem and T-Dose. They collaborate online on drupal.be, their countless groups.drupal.org sites and meet face to face as well.

Dutch-speaking drupalistas made up 10% of Sezegd's attendants. We liked the atmosphere of this small University town so much that they a pushing to host the 2009 conference in a similar place, like Maastricht

The fertile ground in this region not only produces the ingredients for the famous Belgian beers and Dutch cheese but also produced, in a way, dedicated and well-known Drupalistas like Berkes, Hein, Roel DM and many more.

Just heard from my son, that you are fellow-students at TU/e,
where you have Drupal taking care for your studentclub-website
(I believe TU/e uses Typo 3 for their university websites: nice mixture of open source solutions)
