Sprint
Drupal work is more fun with others around, so let's all work together. Bring your laptop to the Aten office and work on your current projects. Don't have a current project? We can find something on Drupal.org for you. We'll ask each other questions, get stuff done, maybe play a little foosball.

Foosball?
I'm totally down with some coding. Question, what kinda foosball table you got? Hopefully I'm not too rusty and don't go home in shame :)
Tornado
We have a Tornado table.
Advanced
So, is this sort of an old boys' club? I'd hate to be the only beginner / intermediate developer / themer there.
Not at all
Beginners are definitely encouraged to attend. We've never done this before, and don't have any sort of agenda, so the people who show up will largely shape it.
Appreciate it...
I've been trying to get more plugged into the community, so every opportunity like this is super helpful. Thanks
Great Idea!
This is a great idea, but unfortunately the new kid is keeping me nailed down at home. Hopefully I'll be able to attend a later event!

This will be awesome
One thing I would like to find help with is how to convert a Wordpress site to a Drupal site with all of the users of the Wordpress site will still be able to log into the Drupal site without having to resign up. BTW I am a NOOB with Drupal so I am glad we are welcome to this event.
Wordpress Import get's you most of the way there
Sounds like fun! I'm definitely going to try to make it. If so, I can help you get started. I've ported a couple sites from WordPress to Drupal using the Wordpress Import module. It will get all your posts and pages ported over. I know it will map users to the correct posts, but I haven't actually used it to port users.
In either case, I don't think it's possible to import passwords for security reasons. Someone else may know better. Users will need to reset their passwords. This shouldn't be a huge issue, since they will need to make a transition from the Wordpress admin to Drupal admin interface. Updating their password can be worked into that process.
Thanks
I just wanted to say thanks to Aten for putting on this event. It was really fun to meet up and chat while also working on some code. Foosball was fun too. I hope other areas of the country are trying this out.
I totally agree - I had a
I totally agree - I had a good time, saw some folks I knew and met some others - and got great help on my current project! Clearly I need to work on my foosball. . .
Open office at Aten was awesome!
Just have to echo what Jordan and Rick said. Got back to work on a project that was falling by the wayside and learned some new stuff, met some nice people. Hope you can do it again. Thanks!
I agree! A great time!
Just going to add to the chorus that the open work night was a great idea and a real success. I think that it's definitely worth experimenting with different formats that are more hands-on, participatory, and discussion-based. I wonder if one of the meetups could have some time reserved for something similar? A lightning work session- maybe just as simple as people turning to the people around them and quickly sharing what they're working on. Not sure...just thinking aloud right now. :)

Next month
It would be great to make this a monthly event. We can probably do it at the Aten office again if nothing else comes up, but I'd love to see this rotate between different offices in the local Drupal community.
Anyone else have an office to volunteer for next month?
