Are you tired of using print, echo, var_dump (and variants like drupal_set_message and kint) to debug your code? It's time to level up your game and step into modern web development best practices! Sure, some of you may be using PHPStorm. But, why not learn how to do things with totally FOSS software and be confident that you've got a tool you can use on any project? In this presentation Marc Isaacson will demonstrate how we can use Vim, Vundle, and VDebug (along with XDebug) to set up an awesome FOSS IDE that allows us to do interactive source debugging.

Automated testing has a lot of benefits: reduced maintenance costs, improved software quality, sped up time to market, and preventing embarrassing regressions. In the long run having a test suite saves time and money for any project. In practice most small to medium size client projects are delivered without testing. Why? Because tests have the reputation to be expensive and difficult to write. With Behat this is no longer the case: tests can be written in plain English in a few minutes.

p>Everyone in the industry knows how important semantic HTML is in order to create an accessible site, but have you ever wondered if there is more to an building accessible product than just development? With another Drupal Camp Colorado in the books, this month we'll look back on what we learned from 2017's camp and get ready for 2018. Camp organizers want to hear from you, the attendees, about what worked and what can be made better. One topic of a lot of discussion has been "getting off the Drupal island", and working together with other local technology communities. Another has been reaching out to higher education, and helping students make career essential contacts in the industry. We look forward to hearing everyone's ideas, and are excited to get to work on next year's camp!

Let's face it - every project isn't perfect. You make the perfect project plan, you execute with excitement, and before you know it you've completed 50% of the work with 20% of the work remaining. How do you manage the 30% gap? At first thought, you may want to ignore the overage and cross your fingers that somehow everything will be just fine. You may also want to try and cut some corners internally to stay off the clients radar.

Drupal Menu Save Issues

Hey DBUG,

I learned a lot from our last meet-up and being my second month as part of the community (most of you were luckily in Baltimore) got to meet a lot more people.

Quick question that I would like to bring to the group: Anyone else having issues saving menu items in Drupal 8? I've been apart of the following discussion https://www.drupal.org/node/2735797 and no one can quite seem to figure it out. Once you make edits to nodes that are linked in a menu, that menu items becomes disabled. In some instances it seems as if all menu items become disabled.
