Location: Promethius Consulting Click Here for Directions
Time: 6pm
Let us know if you can make it! I will do a presentation on Zen Theme, so if anyone wants to know how to bend the Zen Theme into your own, come and join us! There have been a lot of questions about this in the past, so hopefully you can make the meetup and learn something!
Also Eric is going to present on his XAMPP so don't miss out!!
If anyone needs further help with directions, let us know!

Drupal Install on a Mac with XAMPP Questions & Answers
I will be there. In addition, if any one has questions on how to install Drupal on a Mac using XAMPP, I can help. I have set up a few Drupal installs on my local machine so I can help out where needed.
For those of you who don't know, XAMPP is a stand-alone web application that includes Apache, MySQL, PHPMyAdmin, and PHP5 to serve as a local development environment. I have been able to set up a new folder outside of the default XAMPP htdocs file, create virtual hosts, and update the local DNS file so that when XAMPP is running you can just type in a domain name (i.e., drupal6.local - I use .local since it is not a real domain name extension, and I know that is a local site.) it goes directly to your local installation.
I have also been able to secure my XAMPP install since it comes with everything wide open. It comes with everything wide open to allow for easier development; however, I find it just as easy to lock everything down. In addition, I have been able to access XAMPP's MySQL database from the command line. So I can give you those commands to do that.
Eric, I've got XAMPP on my
Eric,
I've got XAMPP on my MacBookPro ... but some of the customizations you are talking about are interesting... Have you set up any versioning (cvs, etc...) software with your local sites?
I guess we can chat more next Monday night...
Josh
awesome
thanks Eric! some of that stuff is a little bit over my head, but I'd love to see your setup in comparison to my MAMP setup.
I'm there!
I'm interested in theming, especially best practices. I can show a couple of themes that I've customized and methods that I've used, but I'm just not sure if I'm using best practices.
I've themed a module function within a theme, if that is of interest to anyone. Again, though, just not sure if I'm using the best methods.
Also, very interested in what suggestions anyone has for WYSIWYG editors for Drupal.
Looking forward to it!

Hey Ray...
I can bring the copy of my digital copy of the Pakt Drupal Theme book for you to barrow, if you'd like...
From what I understand, best practices are those practices that are well documented and fit within the "Drupal" ecosystem. The Pakt book really helped my head get around the different possibilities.

Location Situation
Tony, that'd be great! My only other option was getting a room at the library. I know your meeting room would better suit the session. Last time I was at a library meetup, the room got pretty full.
I've got PC reserved. We're
I've got PC reserved. We're all set to have it there.

I'll try to make it... I'm (relatively) new to the Drupal scene (got into it before CCK was Drupal 6 ready), but have been developing web sites for the Lafayette area for years. And I have developed a number of sites recently with the Acquia install, if anyone is interested on how that works I'd be happy to share my insight...
Anyone going to Drupalcon DC? We could have a BoF for Indiana people...
Josh
Hey Josh! Welcome to the group!
Great to see you're going to Drupalcon! Me, sdudenhofer, and dougvann will be going as well (so far... maybe more will decide to as the time draws near). Hopefully you will be able to make it to the meetup, it should be a good time. I think you'll find that we're a group of diverse talents and we generally have fun mingling and picking each others brains.
Maybe we'll see you Monday!
Topic Presentation
It seems like at least a few individuals would like to hear what I have to say about XAMPP on the Mac or other systems. This weekend I will prepare something. Then, if needed, I can present something to the group or to a select group of individuals at this coming meeting or a future meeting.
That'd be great
If you put a presentation together, that'd be great. I definitely don't plan on taking the whole time on my presentation, so you could go next, then we could open it up for some mingling and question-answer times. If people want to split at that time to drill-down further into either topic, we could close it out that way.
Way to go gang!
Thank you to all.
I didn't think a 2nd December meeting would be well attended due to the holidays, or potentially bad weather, or something.
I want to thank Aaron and Tony and the rest of you for making this happen.
There have been over a dozen posts made by others since I asked for help in setting agendas, meetings, etc.
THAT ROCKS!
That's exactly what the group needs. I honestly believe that people are reading the group posts again for the only reason that its not the DougVann show any more. We have conversations occurring in these posts. It is far more interesting to read these posts when it is not just me continuously asking what everyone wants.
I am excited about the renewed interest by many of the members, and I can not express my appreciation enough.
I have spent some time this week working on getting one more sponsor for the group.
I look forward to learning a lot Monday night. See you there!
