Hello All,

I'm helping out a local nonprofit (Reading to End Racism), right now their volunteer database is manually maintained in an Excel spreadsheet, and I've been looking at CiviCRM and it looks like it is exactly what they need moving forware. There are a lot of things they want to start doing (beyond keeping their volunteer database up-to-date) that CiviCRM is perfect for. The problem is that while I'm a software engineer, I'm a C++/Windows/SQL guy who has seen PHP once or twice, so while I suspect that once CiviCRM is running I can keep it running, I'm a little nervous about the initial installation process.

What do y'all think about standingcloud.com? It looks like they are (1) local, and (2) already have Drupal and CiviCRM installed, so that's one big headache I don't have to worry about.

I'm thinking I should show up at your next meeting (Wed. the 14th?), do you think there are folks in the local group willing to donate a few hours to a local nonprofit (helping me get started)?

Thanks,
Chris Shearer Cooper

I'm not certain anyone will be able to donate some time, but it'll help to show up and ask, and you can see if anyone's got some CiviCRM experience who can give you a quick run-down on it.

You might also see if there's a CiviCRM group here on groups.drupal.org - it's possible they might have suggestions for hosts and getting started.
