Is BADCamp 2011 the largest FREE Drupal event in the world?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Absolutely, and it's exciting! BADcamp 2011 had over 500 people register in the first week alone. Currently over 860 people have registered, we're six weeks away, and rumor has it there's enough space for many more.

Come speak, come learn, come share Drupal. This is a FREE community driven event ... but comparable in attendance and presentations as Drupalcon only a couple years ago!! If you're on the fence, don't be. This is a really amazing opportunity to connect and engage with the larger Drupal community. Regional flights are cheaper than a Drupalcon ticket, ridesharing is cheaper, and the price of admission is FREE! The networking and learning and opportunity to connect and engage doesn't get better. This is community at its best. The venue is a short walk from BART -- so you could stay practically anywhere in the bay area. What are you waiting for? Go register: http://2011.badcamp.net/user/register

Please submit a Session or Lightning Talk

Are you already registered to attend? Do you have something to share? You should really consider submitting a session, or maybe a smaller lightning talk, or maybe you could even offer free training?!

In addition, keep an eye out for the various BoFs, meetups, and summits on the BADcamp homepage: Like the West Coast core Developer summit, Drupal Non-Profit Summit, Drupal Higher Education Summit, or BoFs.

Ridesharing? Couch surfing?

BADcamp website will have a rideshare / travel coordinating / couch-surfing 'thingy' on their site in another week or so. In the meantime there is a forum where you can coordinate ridesharing & housing. If you're in the LA area you might consider joining a few people to charter a private plane. So please register, propose a session, lightning talk, etc and be sure to follow @badcamp on twitter.

Disclaimer: I'm not involved with organizing BADcamp. The folks doing it are awesome though,,, I found out they have room for more session submissions, more lightning talks, and more people -- and it's still free! I hope you don't mind me sharing ;-)

Nearing capacity

Unless something's changed since I last heard about it, BADCamp 2011 caps at 1,000 attendees. That means there's only room for less than 140 more people.

BADcamp will be capped around 1,000 people

The venue can hold slightly more than 1,000 people, but until we're sure we can support more people than that, that's probably where we'll cap registration. Cross your fingers that we'll guarantee some more space :)
