Any CRM Pushers at PNW Drupal Summit?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Are any of you CRM gurus attending the Oct 14 PNW Summit meeting? I'm surprised to not see any proposed sessions related to CRM development/integration.

I'm involved in CRM integration for churches/nonprofits, initially using CiviCRM but want to hear from the voice of experience and see a comparison of strengths/weaknesses of the upcoming solutions (Red Hen, dropCRM, churches CRM, etc) vs established ones like CiviCRM. As a newcomer to the CRM discussion, I'm looking for a bird's eye view of what's happening.

Any chance of a meetup in Portland? Will CiviCRM have a presence?

We'll be there with bells on

The ThinkShout team (RedHen CRM folks) will certainly be at the PNWDS. We didn't submit any topics on CRM this year, because, well, we've just been slammed with other stuff and there was interest in the community for us to present on a few other topics.

But a BOF would be great. Maybe some sprinting in the coder lounge? Let's make it happen.

Cheers,
Sean

CiviCRM

I am a local CiviCRM specialist. I have considered going to the summit, however it is sold out. If there is an event organizer interested in having me there, let me know if you can get me in, and in exchange I will present something or make materials available regarding CiviCRM. If someone wants specific info about CiviCRM they are welcome to contact me here.

We have a CiviCRM meetup in Portland on Oct 5th as well, see www.civicrm.org

CiviCRM Meetup

Stoob,

I was hoping there would be a meetup closer to the 14th so I could return with more than Drupal knowledge. I'm in Alaska (we are the northern-most Drupal developers) and have to choose carefully when to fly South. I'll try to stay tuned to future events. Question: do you know anyone who conducts basic to advanced CiviCRM workshops? I'm probably at an intermediate level. Oh, I hope you get in to the Summit. Maybe get on waiting list?

Hey Steve!Good to here from

Hey Steve!

Good to here from you! Myself and Jamie (yautja_cetanu) are working on a CRM solution specifically aimed at churches. I don't know a lot about the non-drupal systems but within Drupal there are 3 or 4 projects being developed simultaneously:

  • DropCRM a.k.a Trellon CRM can be found here http://drupal.org/sandbox/citizenkane/1260982. They're working on a Contact storing system based on the drupal entity API. they have contact storage done and are currently working on implementing activities (documenting ways those contacts interact).
  • Party can be found here http://drupal.org/sandbox/joachim/1260650. This is the one Jamie and I are chiefly working on, in league with Joachim. We're particularly interested in more flexible ways of storing contact data, making use of as many contributed modules as possible such as Relation http://drupal.org/project/relation and Profile2 http://drupal.org/project/profile2. Whereas all the other developers are working on very specific use cases for specific clients, we're more interested in developing a flexible community solution that can be used across use cases. (and Jamie and I want this to work for the Church/Non-Profits)
  • RedHen CRM They have a website but I haven't seen any code come out from them. Looks like it could be cool though.

If you wan't to chat some more, there's a group of us on IRC in the drupal-crm channel.

Thanks

Robert,

Thanks for the overview (I'm sure you've repeated yourself many times on this same question). Hey, I just came across this "CRM Module Comparison" list: http://groups.drupal.org/node/62398. In that list, would your "Party" project fall under "CRM API"? Just trying to make sense of it all.

I do want to join the discussion on what's most suitable for churches and small nonprofits - my clients and future clients see me as a consultant in this area, but I can only answer questions related to CiviCRM projects I have done. I don't want to push them toward Civi just because its all I know. So thanks for the invitation.

Will you guys also be at the PNW Summit?

...Steve

Yeah, our "Party" would fall

Yeah, our "Party" would fall under CRM API and so lots of what we do is influenced by the discussions in this group.

We're not going to be able to get to the PNW Summit as we're based in Manchester, UK. I hope it all goes well though.
