I have a project that I'm starting to build out with a bunch of client-provided content. As I add text from documents they send, I'm having a problem with the line breaks all being formatted as
soft returns rather than
<
p> paragraph returns. So when I apply any formats in the new page, it's affecting all the surrounding copy.
I'm using WYSIWYG and CKEditor, and I thought I had the line breaks set up right, but no matter how I set it, I'm getting the same thing. I've also tried copying the text into a plain text editor first, to strip out any oddities from the original document format.
I thought the Drupal Line Break Converter was supposed to convert double line-breaks into
<
p> tags and single into
. I know this is pretty basic, but I'm stumped at the moment... Does anyone have any clues to how to paste in text with full paragraphs intact?

The only thing I can think of is to disable the WYSIWYG while "importing" the content into the standard text editor.
My usage of WYSIWYG editors is 0% these days, so I can't lend many potential solutions to this.

line breaks and wysiwyg are tough
From what I've experienced, the automatic line break converter and WYSIWYG (I used w/ckeditor) have a hard time w/pasted text. My solution has been to make sure that I have a separate Input Format for WYSIWYG nodes and disable the line break converter for that format. Still, pasting text into the WYSIWYG often uses double
<br>instead. I either tend to fully format my HTML before pasting (e.g., adding<p>where necessary (Textmate has some nice bundles that help this along...)). Also, not only copying from a plain text editor, but enabling the "Paste as Text" button on the ckeditor and using that rather than a straight paste seems to do the trick for me.Hope that helps...

yeah... The method I've been using myself is the old format the HTML first and knock that into the page. That's always been the most reliable.
But with a lot of supplied content to add for an initial build-out, it sure would be nice to have a (simple, reliable) way to just paste it in.
I looked around on Drupal.org (and google) to see if I could find an answer before I posted here. Seems like there would be something... but I found very little on the subject. Oh well... I'll keep looking and post here if I find anything.
