Sorry, this was delayed until some folks not in attendance who might present could be talked to first...

[14:59] is DrupalIcon buying BEER?
[15:01] * StevCory (~stevecory@c-174-58-22-199.hsd1.fl.comcast.net) has joined #drupal-nc
[15:01] http://buytaert.net/sites/buytaert.net/files/cache/drupalcon-szeged-2008...
[15:01] Hi Greg
[15:02] Hey ... lol steve
[15:02] Now THAT is some beer :)
[15:02] afreeman_: are you around?
[15:02] well it's after 3... do you know where your TriDUG planning meeting is?
[15:03] * SteveCory (~stevecory@c-174-58-22-199.hsd1.fl.comcast.net) Quit (Ping timeout: 248 seconds)
[15:03] * StevCory (~stevecory@c-174-58-22-199.hsd1.fl.comcast.net) has left #drupal-nc
[15:03] * StevCory (~stevecory@c-174-58-22-199.hsd1.fl.comcast.net) has joined #drupal-nc
[15:04] here!
[15:04] here here
[15:04] so who's here for the meeting... and who's just lurking?
[15:04] here until I need to get the baby
[15:04] but can't make the Durham meeting
[15:05] :(
[15:05] +1
[15:05] You should bring the kid... she already reads drupal books
[15:05] LOL!
[15:05] or is that eats?
[15:05] cgmonroe: true, she just ordered Drupal Building Blocks
[15:05] I am around.
[15:06] hey allen
[15:06] @shibby let's do this.
[15:06] we have tickets to the wolf night at the museum of life and science the same night :(
[15:06] hey allen
[15:06] oh hai Greg, Julia
[15:06] sup Allen
[15:06] Rumor has it you've got a topic for the next meeting...
[15:07] I'm learning panels a bit better so pencil me in for a panels overview at some future date
[15:07] I'd like to do a two month track on Drupal for Nonprofits.
[15:07] @julia - Kewl.. will do
[15:07] great, cya you folks in December ;)
[15:07] j/k
[15:08] @allen - works for me... is that two full sessions or just 1 hour pres?
[15:08] each
[15:08] Two full sessions, ideally multiple presenters.
[15:08] Has drush, Jeff VanDrimmel (wordpress dude) in his notes
[15:08] afreeman_: will this take up the entire time or do you want to pair it with other preso's or combine it with something else
[15:09] Identical format to what we did when we focused on social media for Drupal (which is something I'd like to revisit in future)
[15:09] What I'm bringing to the party: http://www.gospringboard.com/
[15:10] afreeman_: I submitted my talk for DrupalCon :) -- but that's a long way away
[15:11] @shibby: better to get it in early. :)
[15:11] Is it a distro Allen? The SpringBoard?
[15:11] so CGMonroe it sounds like we'll do a presentation, then audience reaction / application / q&A
[15:11] @SteveCory: yes it is.
[15:12] That sounds good... folks like that the last meeting
[15:13] @ Jason, nah not at all. Your presentation is very close to being ready for a Con. For sure. It was good.
[15:13] Full disclosure: I work for Jackson River and am one of the developers on the Springboard project. I don't think there's a conflict of interest here since I believe this is topical info of interest to any number of our users, but if anyone sees a problem here we can go with some other plan/format for the meetup.
[15:13] i see no conflict here, just don't bring the sales guy ;)
[15:14] It's free right? You folks just do value add to it...
[15:14] No worries. Sales is busy mugging the DC DUG.
[15:14] Heck no, it just means you're warmer on the topic...what conflict?
[15:14] @CGMonroe: of course it's free. This isn't Joomla! :)
[15:15] afreeman_: can you be sure to talk about non-salesforce integration as well
[15:15] Just checking it wasn't a Drupal Gardens thing...lol
[15:15] WTF is the Joomla you speakc of :)
[15:15] juliakm: What do you mean?
[15:15] like, other CRMs
[15:15] Sure can't.
[15:16] Hate Civi with a four alarm flaming passion and haven't touched any of the others.
[15:16] so, it's mostly a SF-Drupal tool?
[15:16] pretty much.
[15:16] SF?
[15:16] sales force
[15:16] thx
[15:16] If you don't want SalesForce, Springboard probably doesn't make a whole lot of sense for your organization.
[15:17] afreeman_: gotcha, we might want to pair the springboard talk with another one
[15:18] nonprofit people sometimes have strong reactions to salesforce + nonprofits, not really sure why, just wanted to give you a heads up
[15:18] Ideally I'd like to line up some additional presenters from the nonprofit space, maybe also rope in some folks from the local dev shops to talk about the intricacies of doing work for non-profits.
[15:19] @juliakm: I don't know why, last time I checked Salesforce was handing out free orgs to nonprofits. That seems pretty compelling to me. shrug
[15:19] afreeman_: sounds good, DesignHammer has lots of nonprofit work experience
[15:19] Agreed, the trick is convincing them to step up to the podium.
[15:19] afreeman_: yeah, nptech people often have strong opinions…not always sure why
[15:19] I had some other stuff I wanted to talk to Kosta about anyway, maybe I'll see if I can catch up with them for lunch next week.
[15:20] hesketh is very nonprofit focused too
[15:20] really, this should be a good opportunity for either
[15:20] Or both.
[15:20] SEO for nonprofits + drupal + durham
[15:20] Two month series == 4 presenter slots.
[15:22] My only concern is that two month that targeted may make people not interested stop showing
[15:22] maybe we should split it up over more time?
[15:22] A worthy concern, however the last time we did a targeted two month series turnout quadrupled both months.
[15:22] CGMonroe: or in November, wrap up the NPO and have a different topic
[15:22] if you talk to judy at nctech4good, that would get a ton of people
[15:22] maybe a joint event
[15:23] That's a brilliant idea.
[15:23] solid
[15:23] thanks
[15:24] Greg, you think we're gonna scare off core users with this track?
[15:24] I can ping Amber Smith over at ActivateGood who does a lot of work with volunteering in Wake County, this might be interesting to them
[15:24] can it be presented in modules?
[15:24] @steven_nc: what do you mean?
[15:25] I think if we didn't fill two full sessions it would be ok.. e.g. 1 and 1/2
[15:25] just more compartmentally for people that don't/can't commit to 4 months
[15:26] @CGMonroe: We may not even be able to line up enough presenters to fill all four slots over the two months. In any case there isn't a lot of overlap between Raleigh and Durham, I think Steven and Frank are the only two diehards that hit both venues.
[15:26] Allen, do you have a sentence or two to describe your talk? (To sell it in the agenda..lol)
[15:26] @Steven_nc: we're not talking about four months here, just one meetup in Durham, and the following month in Raleigh.
[15:27] oh ok sorry
[15:27] K.. good point. let's go for it.
[15:27] Alright. I've got the following action items:
[15:27] although an on going workshop type of program could be interesting
[15:28] Agenda so far:
[15:28] - contact DesignHammer and see if they would like to participate.
[15:28] 6:30 - Meet and mingle
[15:28] 7:00-7:10 Announcements / Jobs wanted/offered
[15:28] 7:10 Allen Freeman on SpringBoard Distro
[15:28] 8:00 Q/A / Working with Non-Profits (?)
[15:28] 9:00 BEER!
[15:28] - contact Judy @ nctech4good and give her a heads up as well.
[15:28] @shibby: can you reach out to Hesketh?
[15:29] afreeman_: to see if they want to present?
[15:29] Yep.
[15:29] ack
[15:29] (acknowledge)
[15:29] thought that's what you meant. :)
[15:29] do we have the date set?
[15:29] 19th, innit?
[15:29] 19th
[15:30] FYI - I'm in Colorado for a family thing 12-16...
[15:30] Greg, can you hold off until Monday on posting an agenda? I'd like to give DesignHammer and Hesketh an opportunity to respond before we finalize anything.
[15:30] No problem
[15:31] Awesome.
[15:31] Do we need a fallback if we can't fill the other slot?
[15:32] @juliakm: any chance you'd be interested in presenting next month?
[15:32] afreeman_: Can't on the 19th but I could in December
[15:32] @CGMonroe: a fallback wouldn't be a bad option. Worst case scenario we open the floor, which is never a bad choice.
[15:33] Yeah... or if there's a springboard site you could walk people thru
[15:33] @juliakm: you mean November?
[15:33] afreeman_: meant next time the meeting is in durham after the next one
[15:33] oic.
[15:34] Julia, do you have Judy's contact info?
[15:34] I always get a lot from site dissections
[15:36] Well, I think we can always fall back to "Ask the experts" (e.g. open question) if we need to
[15:37] Works for me.
[15:37] Hopefully we won't have that problem :)
[15:37] afreeman_: just pinged suzanne
[15:38] K... So, here's the "plan"
[15:38] 6:30 - Meet and mingle
[15:38] 7:00-7:10 Announcements / Jobs wanted/offered
[15:38] 7:10 Allen Freeman on SpringBoard Distro
[15:38] 8:00 Non-profit presentation (Allen looking into this) - Alt: Ask the Experts
[15:38] 9:00 Socialize @ Mellowmushroom
[15:39] looks like a good plan
[15:40] * SteveCory (~stevecory@c-174-58-22-199.hsd1.fl.comcast.net) has joined #drupal-nc
[15:40] K.. I'll wait until Allen has a chance to twist... er talk to folks before posting
[15:41] * StevCory (~stevecory@c-174-58-22-199.hsd1.fl.comcast.net) Quit (Ping timeout: 248 seconds)
[15:41] +1 plan.
[15:41] thanks for moderating and keeping us on track CGMonroe
[15:41] no problem
[15:42] * CGMonroe Thinks DrupalIcon is stuck... lots of beer and no comments?
