We've had two great meetings so far and it's not too late to join the planning group for SANDcamp!
Working through the HOC and BPOC and the San Diego Convention Bureau (free service) we've come up with these venues that meet our budget criteria of less than $150/night. The other vendor was Hard Rock but it's a sexually-charged environment and didn't feel it was appropriate for a business event.
Rooftop Party
We've narrowed the venue to two locations for our Saturday night rooftop party. From the site visit last Tuesday, the Andaz was the clear favorite for size, layout, and the option to use their nightclub downstairs in case of rain or serious cold weather. Both the Omni and the Andaz pricing was about the same but the overall event costs are a bit higher at the Omni.
Hotel Rooms
Our guests last year struggled with hotel rooms, they are expensive in the area and not easy to travel-to-from-camp for out-of-towners. To make the camp more integrated, we can take a block of 60 rooms from the Omni at $149/night. This allows for after-event hanging out and cab-sharing to camp. We would be taking reservations now so we know if we will make the minimum. But with 15+ out-of-town sponsors, we're well on our way to 60 rooms.
