The current manager is no longer active - if you would like to take over, please post a comment here. Possibly this group's focus should be narrowed to NJ or Delaware since there is a separate Philadelphia-area group.

manager for the group
Hello! I would be willing to take over management of the group if we can narrow the focus to NJ. I work in central NJ and have clients in the tri-state area and really see a need for a NJ group. I believe that there is a pretty active Philly group already. What do you all think about this?
Thanks!
Brett

Go back to Jersey!
...just kidding. But, I don't think that's a good idea at all. There are a lot of people on this group who don't want to be on a strictly Jersey group, so please start a different group for this!

Alex - there is a separate Philly-area group that has pretty much 100% overlap with this group's claimed geographic span. How would you propose to differentiate the 2 groups?
Are you interested in taking over as manager?
Absolutely
Yes, I'll happily take over managing this group.
The Philly area has a good group, so does NYC, and I am pretty heavily involved in both, as are a few others who don't mind the trek up the turnpike. What I would love to see is more coordination on camps/events between the two groups (hopefully pulling in the Jersey folks as well), though I'd also prefer if this was "Mid-Atlantic" using the other definition, i.e. DC->Baltimore->Delaware->Philly->Jersey->NY (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:US_map_Mid-Atlantic_region.png), but it's not my group, nor have I surveyed those other groups to see if there's interest in joining a bigger, more regional, group. This really relates to my desire to see regional DrupalCamps, which could increase the already high quality of sessions and which is already the reality to a large degree(e.g. many, if not most, of the participants in DrupalCamp Philly were from DC, NYC, Baltimore, and many places in between, and I attend Drupal meetups and Camps in NYC as often as I can). I'm really excited about the possibilities of a real MADCamp, and I think this group could be, at the very least, a good space to organize around that and other regional opportunities.
But- if nobody else sees the need for this group to continue then I guess I'm fine with joining the Jersey group, though if my neighbors try to run me out of town, then I may have to reconsider. ;-)

Its always sunny in NJ
I didn't mean to cause any confusion! I like the idea of a NJ based group to help out with camps an other activities on the local level. If it is easier to make a larger group for this purpose rather than more smaller groups I'll concede. I do think that the Philly group is pretty active and Balt, DC and even NY can sometimes be too large a region for more regular meet-ups. Either way I'm game to help out in whatever way I can. If the consensus is to keep the current group as-is I'll happily start up a NJ group and see if we can't all coordinate some more regular regional activities like our friends over in NY.
As far as I know there is no
As far as I know there is no local NJ group - so if Alex wants to make this an even broader regional group (which has merit) then we should also consider more local NJ and DE groups as appropriate I think.
Sounds good to me
I'll start up a NJ group. Perhaps we can work together on regional activities while I try to get some more local interest.
Helping more local communities...
My reasoning for trying to build more regional events is that they might be able to help foster growth in local groups. There's no reason you shouldn't cross-post anything from your NJ group that you think people in the region might be interested in. In fact, it would be great if you would!

Thanks pwolanin!
I changed the group page to reflect the changes I mentioned in this post.

MADCamp, here we come!
Excellent! I'm all for that. Baltimore is more convenient for me than Philly, as we have family there. But the whole mid-atlantic is my stomping ground :D
