Who are you?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

yktdan@drupal.org is really Walt Daniels, chief techy volunteer for the New York - New Jersey Trail Conference. I have been running their website www.nynjtc.org since 1996. We are about to announce a complete redo on March 1, but you can get a sneak preview at http://new.nynjtc.net. Our offices are in Mahwah, NJ but I live in NY.

We have a small group of content people madly plugging away at filling the empty spaces. However the techy end could use some help doing things I just haven't figured out yet. I am quite willing to share with others so we all reach out goals faster.

My first Drupal site was running a conference for 900 people, still available at http://ramapo2007.nynjtc.org starting in V4.7 in early 2006. I have a number of other small sites I also run.

As soon as the group gathers a useful quorum, it would be great to get together and talk. I can supply a meeting room for about 30 evenings or weekends.

Hi Walt-

Thanks for joining the NJ group! I'm Brett Fielo, a freelance developer and owner of www.webheaddesign.com. I just started the group this past week in the hope that we could pull together some NJ resources to meet and share.

I really appreciate the offer of the meeting room. Once we are up and running, I'd really like to take you up on the offer and organize a meet-up.

Thanks again and welcome!

Brett

About myself

twospiritbear's picture

I'm Scott Ferguson. I live in Clifton, and work in Jersey City as a technical writer for a company that does portfolio accounting for investment managers.

My interest in Drupal is strictly as a hobbyist. I'm interested in Drupal as a platform for a couple of different sites: (1) A social networking site for gay men, and (2) a blog aggregator; a reincarnation of my site punditdrome.com, which was briefly famous from being featured on CNN many moons ago.

I'm using Hurricane Electric (www.he.net) as my host. The ISP has the world's most unfriendly user interface -- no Helm control panel, no nothing! -- but their customer service is pretty good. I would recommend them.

My current project is unhammering one of my two Drupal installations after I unsuccessfully tried to upgrade it with the latest point release. For me, it's all about learning how this beast works and trying to make it do what I want.

I would be interested in a meetup with other Drupal users in northern NJ. Perhaps this group could also register with meetup.com, which is a nice environment for scheduling, managing, and promoting meetups.

Hi Scott!

Thanks for joining the group! I hope to schedule a meeting with the group as soon as we get a few more members. I'll look into meetup as well as seeing how we can use the groups here to set up regular meetings.

I live in Kearny

Kipp Elliott Watson's picture

I'm with a company that I started in 2003 called Whistling Cow. I distribute information management software applications through my websites at www.whistlingcow.com and www.kronolog.com. I am exploring the idea of converting my applications to web applications capable of cloud computing, whatever that might mean. I think it means sharing structured information on a permission-based web-centric framework. I am excited about Drupal's capabilities, particularly with respect to constructing content structures that can be viewed in an infinite variety of ways. I have converted www.whistlingcow.com to a Drupal website and have used Drupal for several other websites as well (i.e., www.ewbc1953.com and www.kippwatson.com). I look forward to working with other Drupal pioneers. I live in River Edge, a town that is next to Paramus -- about 10 miles west of the George Washington Bridge.

Would you like to view the values of all site variables one line at a time while your Drupal code is running on a multisite installation on Vista, using open source Eclipse and Xdebug? Visit http://sites.google.com/site/drupaldebugmultisite/ for details.

Howdy Folks, RobbieTheGeek

Hey all I my name is Robert Holmes, and I have been using Drupal for 2 years. I often pitched myself as a Website Implementor, I would sitdown with clients, and figure out the requirements for a new project and turn back towards the existing modules & functionality to meet those requirements. But nowadays I am the Manger of Interactive Media at Sony Music, that is a fancy way to say I am the break fix / jack-of-all-trades Drupal guy. I play around at http://robbiethegeek.com and use http://heartyhandshake.com to showcase when I do freelance work. I am glad to join this group, I have spent a lot of time going to the Drupal meetups & Drupalcamps in NYC, and web technology meetups in Northern NJ. I have very strong feelings about meetups and the inherent nature of having people new to (insert technology here) that is the focus of the meetup, and like to focus on helping / welcoming & providing a friendly face and tone to get people involved.

I look forward to meeting some new folks, and learning and assisting

Northern NJ - Drupal Meetup

Hey Guys,

I work for New Jersey Institute of Technology and would like to schedule a Meetup to get everybody in the area together and maybe we can do something productive. I can program, document, and train. My theme skills are limited by the fact that I have no great artistic talent, but I got a good eye. I'd be interested in talking to people that want to coordinate on projects and teach/share information about Drupal.

Reply to this if you are interested.

Keith

hey there everybody

My real name is Jason, and I'm a web manager / IT director for a small business to business publishing company in Ramsey, NJ. I live in North Haledon. I'm interested in using Drupal to help me stop writing custom built CMS's for the freelance/personal projects I do. Looking into doing a fake project to help myself learn Drupal. Looking forward to the meetup Robbie and Kipp have set up at Panera (on Route 4 by Kohls) on the 31st of March.
