User assistance provides information to help a person to interact with software.

Someone with user assistance skills:

  • knows the field of UI design, usability testing, localization, testing, quality assurance, instructional design, scripting or programming and accessibility
  • has a variety of communication skills, such as structured writing, editing, task analysis, subject matter expert interviewing
  • knows technical writing methods and techniques
  • understands how to apply single source publishing techniques
  • writing effective online help documentations
  • knows the popular Help Authoring Tools, and has experience in using at least one of them
  • knows the Advanced help Drupal module
