The goal of requirement analysis is determining the needs or conditions to meet for a new or altered product, taking account of the possibly conflicting requirements of the various stakeholders, such as beneficiaries or users.
Someone with requirement analysis skills:
- knows how to identify the stakeholders of a project
- knows how to identify the real business needs of a project
- knows how to create a checklist of requirements, which are actionable, measurable, testable, traceable, related to identified business needs or opportunities, and defined to a level of detail sufficient for system design
- knows how to provide a contract between the project sponsor(s) and developers.
- has the ability to create high level description.
