Template and sob story about denying vs. deleting vs. merging new groups

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

A group was in the moderation queue for a number of months and I just merged it with another group. Unfortunately, I did this before explaining in the moderation log what I was about to do. Deleting the group and merging it, of course, removed it from the moderation queue. Oops.

Here's the message I sent phunster, who proposed the group. It's here partly so that I have a template to reuse in the future.

It turns out there is already an Upgrade group at http://groups.drupal.org/upgrade

Would you be interested in putting your efforts there? It hasn't been very active but it looks like it's right up your alley. Whenever possible, we'd like to have larger (and therefore more active) groups rather than smaller (and therefore less active) groups, especially when they serve the same topic.

Since there is a similar group already, I'm denying your proposed group. Specifically, I'm merging it with the existing Upgrade group so that membership will carry over.

If you'd like to co-organize the Upgrade group with its creator, bpocanada, try contacting him at http://groups.drupal.org/user/797 or post a request in the group at http://groups.drupal.org/upgrade for becoming a co-organizer. If you do this and don't hear from him, let us know in the groups.drupal.org issue queue at http://drupal.org/project/issues/groupsdrupalorg
