User group meeting

A few of us are having coffee and talking Drupal on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at J.P. Licks in Jamaica Plain. You're invited!

When: 7pm to 9:30pm on Wednesday, April 1, 2009
Where: J.P. Licks at 659 Centre St. Jamaica Plain, MA 02130

Topics

Google MapThis isn't a meetup so there aren't any predetermined topics! If there's something that you want to talk about, bring your laptop, a copy of Pro Drupal Development or whatever else you need.

Location

We're meeting at the J.P. Licks café and ice cream shop at 659 Centre St. in Jamaica Plain (their phone number is 617-524-6740). This location is easily accessible by public transportation (take the 39 bus to the Green St. stop or take the T to the Green St. station on the Orange Line) and there is free on-street parking.

There's a booth in the back that can seat 8-9 people. Please grab it if you arrive before anyone else! If it turns out that there are too many people and we need more space, we can rendezvous at June Bug Café, which is a ways down Centre St. (in Hyde Square). They have plenty of space but parking and T-accessibility isn't as good.

Both J.P. Licks and June Bug Café offer food, drinks and free wireless access. At J.P. Licks, I recommend their espresso and the pink grapefruit sorbet (but not together!).

...if you are REALLy hosting a meeting on April Fool's Day.

Do you recommend Pro Drupal Development? Does it have any good theming info? and cover Drupal 6?

I'll kargara if you do,

-Joel

Hi jsindelar! I'm thrilled

Hi jsindelar! I'm thrilled to hear that you can make it.

The 2nd edition of Pro Drupal Development covers D6 but doesn't really go into theming that much. I do recommend it, and the Using Drupal book from the Lullabot folks is also very good. I'd be happy to bring our copies but we keep giving them away and never seem to get a chance to read them ourselves.

If anyone has these, please do bring them to the meeting!

Hell...

If Joel's going to be there, I'm definitely showing up!

Finally I can come

I have been wanting to come to one of the meetings but always had a conflict. Finally I can come, and ask questions those which I never get response from support list!

:)

Arrived super late, and there were 16 people there!

Very good meetup, people very new to Drupal and expert in it and in between. Christefano believes all Drupal-related questions were answered.

J.P. Licks is nice and has good wifi, but it it doesn't have a way for more than 8 people, at most, to all sit together.

Thank you everyone

I would like to thank everyone who has given me great advices, especially Christefano and George.

A question to Christefano. The module that pops up "You are about to be logged out. Click [OK] to stay logged in." You mentioned JQuery J Logout but I can't find it. I must have wrote down incorrectly. Any help would be appreciated.

Best regards.

-Hiro

Thanks! It was great meeting

Thanks! It was great meeting you.

I don't remember which jQuery plugin I found, but another idea is using the jQuery Countdown module, maybe in unison with the refactored Automated Logout module.

Thank you for your response!

Thank you, Christefano.

I have been reading around but not sure if I see the solution. Any pointer would be appreciated.

To recap the issue, I have been using Automated Logout so students won't left their grade page open when they leave (which happens too often), but Automated Logout won't detect when Student is composing Node/Comment, and they get kicked out in the middle of typing. They hate it, of course.

If there is a module that detects typing would be nice, too.
Best regards.
